Pericak, west, herrod and Kasa have been invisible. Can bandison develop these guys each season or did they peak last year? Get some pressure. :wtf:

Breaking news syko freaks out about D-line... in other new The WORLD IS ROUND!!!...

that said pericak has been pretty good but you are right the others have been invisible

The DEs certainly aren't putting much pressure on the QB, that's for sure. Anyone know why Kasa is playing DT instead of DE? I thought he was supposed to be one of our pass rushers?

We're #46 in the nation in Sacks and #54 in Tackles For Loss.

So we're a great run defense. And we're a bit better than average (120 teams) on bringing pressure even though we don't blitz a lot.

I'd like to see more pressure on passes, but we're not exactly doing a bad job on the DL by any objective measure.

Are you saying Syko's blood pressure is not an objective measure?

The D right now is playing 100% better than last year at the same time of the season. I would like to see some game plan that allowed pressure by the D line, but I thought the D played very good against the Dawgs.

Great run defense is a stretch but overall the D is playing better than last year (not hard to improve on that awful performance) but just thought this group would be having more of an impact. The safties are another issue for another day.

Beatty not getting to the QB is more of a concern. Hartigan showed him how to do it this past weekend. Pericak-Cunningham are playing solid, IMO. Herrod is getting extra attention, so really the only spot that isn't performing is the "other DE" depending upon how they lineup. The LIZ backer (what a stupid name for a football position) isn't getting consistent pressure and certainly isn't doing great in coverage. We had lots of chances to get tackles for loss in the UGA game, whether it was a DE/ OLB/ or NCB but they whiffed on the tackles and got burned for yardage.

I haven't seen Forrest West play any OLB/DE spots like he did last season, and if Uzo-Diribe is such a pass-rush freak it would be nice to get him in now too.

We may not have world beaters on the D line, but I think they have been pretty solid. They also seem to me to be improving throughout this season. While I would like to see more of the big name pass rushers numbers called, I really don't care who gets it done as long as it gets done.

Maybe we can hope for a little more pressure from the outside, but our tackles have been really good (especially for their size).

The Mizzery game will tell us exactly what we have here. If we can't get to the QB against them, we are going to get slaughtered as usual.

Part of it is the play calling. The opposing center only has an easy job most of the time to call assignments. We never run a stunt/twist. We also fail to disguise blitzes a good 90% of the time.

On the play where Jalil intercepted the pass in the endzone we blitzed our OLB on a delay. It was one of the only nice defensive playcalls I've seen all year. As far as running straight up the gut, well, teams haven't been able to execute that very nicely. That part I like, but it'd be nice to start making our D a little bit more complex.
