why did the buffs go for a two point convert...

wow...are these coaches that pathetic that they couldnt get a kicker coached up enough in a week to kick a convert!?

Hawkins' last gasp as a college coach is to prove that you have less than 50% chance of making a 2 point conversion - so far, success!

Inthebuff is going to explode. STUPID is all I can say. Hawk said at halftime interview that they were obligated to go for it on the 2nd score. No dumbass, you kick the extra point and make it 13-7. We have the dumbest staff in all of college football.

What happened to Kirkwood or Castor getting a chance to kick? I couldnt watch the game but I just got home and checked the box score and I see that Goodman was kicking the whole game...

Good question and I've had many hours to think about it, simple answer is HAWK IS A BLITHERING NITWIT THAT HAS NO RIGHT BEING ON THE SIDELINE OF ANY D1 TEAM.

Lane Kiffin pulled this stunt a few weeks ago against Minny. He said he thought they had a look and wanted to get an edge in the game...but when it failed, they had to do it again to try to catch up. He went for 2 pts after 3 consecutive TDs and failed on all 3.

I cant get the game on tv or radio so dont know what happened...Is Kirkwood that bad?

our coach is a ****ing idiot. Also called an ill advised timeout after a 4 yard gain after the interception before the end of the half which resulted in Baylor having enough time to match our FG. Typical ****ing jackoff coaching decisions. Seriously question how this idiot ever got a head coaching job before. He does things that are so against logic its laughable. He's a walking train wreck as a coach.

We are going for 2 a lot because Cody is a senior captain who deserves some opportunities to make plays. If it takes making a questionable call for that to happen... if it takes devoting an inordinate amount of limited special teams practice time to working on creative extra point formations... then that's just what we will do. Cody has earned his damn juicebox, so you guys should shut the hell up.

yes.... I did explode
the people sitting around me were scared-

Since Hawkins knows that CU can't kick an extra point, what choice did he have? I mean, it's not as if he can look for a kicker in these last few years, right?!! I mean - that would take The Minimum Level Of Intelligence to consider THAT action. And we know Hawk's not going to waste all his brainpower.

Goodman was 10 for 10 in XPs going in to this game (for this season). He struggled with Field Goals (an understatement), but he was consistent on PATs.

He made the comment at halftime that "we had a little gimmick there."

LOL

That was the best part of the entire game! Samantha Steele asks him why he goes for two in the first quarter of a 6-0 game. "We had a little gimmick there", didn't work so they were "obligated" to go for two the second time.

If you have a "gimmick" for a two point play, why the hell would you show it in the first quarter of a 6-0 game you are winning? Wouldn't the smart move be to save the "gimmick" for when you are down and need the two point conversion?

Our coaches have to be some of the worst coaches in the history of college football.

the playcalling pissed me off..... in the 4th quarter when we were 1st and goal and run with speedy twice then call a freakin qb draw on 3rd and 10?? seriously...wtf? let Tyler throw it.

Go for 2 one first score, what kind of gimmick, get kirkwood to quit gimmick... I have never seen a call like that in all my years... We had to go for it the second time. This was a precise attack on Marcus Kirkwood and get him to quit, PREMEDITATED!!! I cannot believe what this staff pulled.. I am done, Meeting MONDAY

yes.
check your settings for new rep.

I feel for you kicker77...it seems all the hard work you have done with the special teams here...is all for not due to our special ed of a coaching staff. I know you would love to be a GA on this Buff team.....but with the CURRENT coaching staff, I wouldn't bother....they will just take you down with them. Hopefully with the new staff you get the chance you deserve. Dan Talkins is poison!

The whole Kirkwood saga was VERY strange.

“Right now, Marcus Kirkwood is in the front of the line,” Hawkins said. “Those guys have competed all fall. It was very close between him and (freshman) Justin (Castor), so we’re just going to roll him in there and see how he does.”

Hawkins made those comments on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at his weekly press conference.

Then, on Wednesday on the CUBuffs.com website, they posted this:

When practice resumed Tuesday, Kirkwood had moved to the front of the line. And unless something unscripted happens, Saturday's first shot goes to Kirkwood, who at 6-foot-6, 220 pounds will be the school's largest kicker on record (as if size matters at this position).

So the "first shot" rolls around, and they decide to run a 2-point conversion??? What the hell happened to Kirkwood??

Change of plans.

This smacks of pulling Tyler's redshirt twice -- always wondered if the big plan was to get TH made enough to transfer (like Ballenger) to leave the QB spot open. Not sure how you could have done worse than to ANNOUNCE Kirkwood was starter and then play Goodman anyway. Perhaps "money" doesn't like competition, either. When the fans and donors squeal that you MUST replace Goodman, say you will, and then get the replacement guy to walk away.

Not that our coaching staff would play those kind of mind games ... right? ... I mean that would be pretty unconscionable, right?

Why bother though? He knows he is gone at the end of the year anyway, so why go through those games. Just play who you want until they fire you. If there is less money coming if CU waits to fire him, then maybe he is trying to get fired.
