Oregon at home looks unstoppable

Oregon hasn't won the "big game" in 93 years and counting.

Hopefully they'll continue with this streak... The season is still young.

Oregon looks like they can stamp their ticket to the NC game right now. Very impressive.

We say stuff like this now, but you know any national championship contender has 1-2 games where they are off and struggle. Oregon will get tested at some point, just not sure it will be at Autzen.

At USC, At Cal, At OSU. Hosting Washington and Arizona.

Their toughest games have yet to be played...

Oregon has had these offensive outputs so far:

Week 1 vs. New Mexico - 720 yds
Week 2 vs. Tennessee - 447 yds
Week 3 vs. Portland State - 668 yds
Week 4 vs. Arizona State - 385 yds
Week 5 vs. Stanford - 626 yds
Week 6 vs. Washington St. - 556 yds
Tonight so far - 584 yds.

Who is their OC anyway? We should add him to the coaching prospect list. The guy is incredible. Did he come with Chip from some DIII school?

**** that guy, I heard he sucked at his prior job. Who is their OL coach? Those were holes Scott could fit through!

Do you really want to know?
MARK HELFRICH!! The former OC under Hawkins at dear old CU!
I don't know, but I think it has more to do with Chip than their current OC. Chip was the OC under Belloti.

Heres their scores the last two seasons with Helfrich as OC. 3 out of their last 20 games they've been held to under 30 points.

Didn't we think the same thing in '07 with Oregon behind Dennis Dixon... then they proceeded to lose to a bad Arizona team. Season is still young. If UO loses, they will get passed by a plethora of SEC teams. Sucks but true.

was that the game Dixon blew out his knee?

Yea, they certainly looked unbeatable last night and they probably are at home. I saw a ridiculous stat this morning - Oregon is averaging 8 TD's per game at home. But I think they'll lose at least one of their road games. They beat a mediocre ASU team by 11, and ASU turned the ball over 7 times in that game.

One more reason that Hawk needs to go.

Certainly agree, but it's worth remembering that folks on here were screaming for Helfrich's head during his last season at CU. They got their wish and now look where we are: Oregon is cruising, the Buffs are stuck in reverse.

Also noticed that our friend J-Fly was suspended for "violating team rules." Wonder why...

Helfrich should just be happy CU gave him a chance to learn the OC position on the job. Anyway, he looks a lot better when he is not calling the plays.

He was rapping when Ricky Slick Pants was talking....

UO looked like a juggernaut. I was actaully more impressed with their D. Once they got ahead it was ugly. fUCLA is actually running the ball fairly well though, Iwas kind of surprised by that.

I refuse to believe that Mr. Burns (Helfrich), with his giant chrome dome, has anything to do with the offensive success at Oregon. He was a train wreck for us.

Oregon will ***t the bed like always. All they did was beat up on a Slick Rick team. Tricky Ricky's teams are always very Jeckle and Hyde.

How the **** did UCLA win in Austin?

Texas had 5 turnovers, including 4 in the first half. At halftime the game was 13-3. I then became very intoxicated. According to the game recap, UT had more total yards (mainly passing), but UCLA broke off 2 or 3 very long runs in the second half to get their touchdowns to blow the game open.

isn't it completely obvious that chip kelly is his own offensive coordinator? ducks fans were saying that would be the case when they hired helfrich. chip kelly was the offensive coordinator under belotti and kicked ass. and helfrich said in the daily camera his dream offense was running 4 wide receiver sets and throwing it all the time. does that sound like the oregon offense to you? helfrich shouldn't take any credit for what oregon is doing

I don't know but I am willing to assume CK is the reason the Ducks are on cruise control.

Still, it seems kinda funny that a lot of us kick and scream, first about Shawn Watson, then about Helfrich, both of whom then go to programs that are having a lot of success. In both cases I highly doubt Helf and Wat are difference makers but I also highly doubt guys like Pelini and Kelly surround themselves with morons who don't know dick about football and don't have a part to play in putting a successful product on the field... and haunting the Buffs. Maybe it's right guy in right place/system, but think about it: Oregon and Nebraska could pretty much hire anyone they want to.

In the end I think this is all the more an indictment of Hawkins. Other folks win with his OCs. Why the f didn't he? It also makes we wonder about Kiesau. When Hawk goes will Kiesau end up OC at Wazzu or ASU and come back haunt future Buff teams?

Most knu fans are screaming for shortbus's head. He does well against ****ty teams but ****s the bed against good coaching and talent because he can't understand why his favorite 3 plays aren't working anymore...

1. Watson was never an OC for Hawkins.

2. Nebraska's offense sucks.

3. Oregon's offensive success has nothing to do with Helfrich.

4. Whether he has surrounded himself with crappy coaches, or somehow has contaminated good coaches with his crapiness, either way, Hawk is an imbecile.

1. Didn't mean to imply he was (though I can see how it sounded like it; my bad), rather that a CU OC was run out of town only to land with a team that is on an upward trend while CU can't get its footing.

2. I don't know about sucks. Certainly one-dimensional, but the QB is a freshman and by all accounts has the skills to become a much better passer; CU can only wish it had such a crappy player to build its future offense around.

3. Again, never said it did. Just that Kelly could hire anybody he wants at that staff position but he's stuck with Helfrich. There has to be a reason.

4. Clearly not all the coaches Hawk has surrounded himself with are crappy. Helfrich, whatever his role at UofO, would certainly be a case in point (see #3) so it's much more likely the latter, making the Hawkins era a waste, which, of course, was my point.

In the end I would prefer to have "crappy" coaches like Helfrich and Watson if it meant the team I supported won 9-12 games every year, competed for and occasionally won conference titles and played in major bowl games with regularity. Whatever you think of Helfrich, he has a high-profile spot on a coaching staff that has its team playing about as well as anyone in college football.
