Dan Hawkins is a saint

Goodness, Woellk is such a kiss ass. Does somebody have embarassing pictures or something? The table is set? Set for what? Quick name me the Hawk recruited players likely bound for the NFL, Smith, Brown, Miller maybe Deehan (I don't count the UM and UCLA refugees).....five years and that is it? Maybe Kasa and Major too if they keep developing. CU has depth but good grief, Toledo out athleted the Buffs.

Woellk is just doing CYA for MB...sure it was a bad hire but look how great everything is now. Baloney. I don't blame MB for the hire, Hawk was a hot property, but from the extension on, the HC position has been grossly mismanaged. FB drives the bus and MB has kept Hawk. You can spout the party line all you want, the only thing lost is whatever credibility NW may have had.

If he's a Saint, he should be in ****ing New Orleans. What the hell is he still doing here?

This is the "saving face" and "leaving with dignity" part of the exit process.

If saying nice things is what it takes to get things moving, then Dan Hawkins abso-****ing-lutely did a bang up job setting the table for the next guy.

Thanks Dan!

"I`m either going to get this thing up and rolling -- or leave the table set for the next guy."

:uglyhammer::noob::blah::asshole::doh:

What a load of crap, the same would have been true no matter who followed Barnett. Unfortunately, Hawkins turned out to be an incompetent coach.

So a new guy will come in and inherit a team with loads of Talent and Depth? I think not. Neil likes to gloss over some of the key issues. Yes CU had the scandal and yes recruiting had fallen off under Barnett because of the scandal but CU was certainly more relevant on the field than they are now and that perception has a huge impact on recruiting which is where it all starts. HS players who will be seniors next year were in 6th grade the last time the Buffs had a winning season. Their perception of the program is not that good.

This recruiting class is not going to be good so we will be about 3 in a row were CU has failed to recruit at a top level. That is going to affect depth across the board. Lack of quality quarterbacking is going to be a problem. Missouri became good when they got good at the QB position.

I see it taking the next coach at least 3 years to be on solid footing.

i wish neil woelk would get fired. he makes his living by sucking up to the athletic director and writing only what the athletic director wants him to write. it's pathetic.

You guys are way to tough on Woelk. It just isn't his style to get all fire and brimstone. He's always been a more introspecive writer.

Yeah, he definitely gave Ricardo Patton the same benefit of the doubt.

I don't read his stuff that often. I have no clue what he said about Patton. But Woelk's style kind of reminds me of Terry Frie. Thats all I'm saying. And it isn't like he was arguing for Hawk to keep his job.

On the radio today, he was saying that many coaches would want assurances from CU that they would get total support which has not been the case since the scandal days. Although, things are way better now.

How much more support do these ****ers want?!?!?! Good Lord, Dan Hawkins has not had a SINGLE winning season!!! He coaches like a maniac idiot. He's run off more players than I can possible count, and the way he's manipulated the QB position to get Cody Hawkins on the field is one of the biggest cases of nepotism I've seen since the Bob / Nathan Simmons days. And yet he is STILL EMPLOYED at CU, and will likely walk away from CU with almost $2 mil in his pocket AFTER everything he makes during this season.

And coaches want MORE support than that?!?!?

Woelk is a ****ing idiot. The guy is about as delusional as Talkins if he thinks we have a good foundation.. Frickin absurd.

I think he was referring to CU not being able to get kids into school that all the other schools (in the Big XII) can. Man, calm the **** down!

Woelk blows, he making more excuses for a guy that would have had his ass fired for this awful garbage for the last 5 years.

Hawk is Gone. It makes no sense to fire him today. The CU President and Chancellor GAVE him the year. They promised him that. I think that speaks volumes that the administration will treat people with class and stick by their word. I think that is one small factor that will help bring a quality coach in here.

Apparently Bohn believes it is "bush league" to fire a coach in mid season. I tend to agree with that. Listen, it is done. Over. Finished. Dan Hawkins will be gone on November 26th. 28 days. Exactly 4 weeks.

This has been the case for many many years, including during the Big 8. Quit acting like it's something new.

+1.
DBT & Philly get the reality of the situation.

I'm with you DBT. Neil is just cut from a different cloth, and frankly there are enough writers out there who are penning weekly "Hawkins needs to be fired/resign NOW" (see Post, Denver). Neil is much more fun to read when things are going well, I'll give that to his naysayers.

Neil was never afraid to criticize the school/AD not too long ago. He's not "cut from a different cloth," he is protecting his access/sources. He's no different than Mike Klis from the Denver Post, whom covers the Broncos.

WTF? "Acting like its something new?" I was just passing along what Woelk said on the radio.
