Daily Oklahoman paper on CU-OU series

Hopefully OU schedules us as their cupcake game and by the time we actually play them, we are a Top 25 program.

we're kicking off at 8:15 Oklahoma time....tonight. what is the time zone complaint? this game will last past 11:30 local time.

I'm sure Stoops will be one real grouchy man on Sunday morning if CU keeps it close if not win the game.

I think he gives a fair account of tonight's game and the series as a whole. He basically says that the Hawkins era is an aberration in the program's history, which is refreshing because so much of the media and other Big 12 fans act like we've been a doormat forever.

i think we play this one closer than most people think. i don't predict a W, but 34-24-ish. OU hasn't exactly been blowing people out. FSU wasn't ready to play, i saw that game on TV and ISU, whatever. Utah State and AFA have hung with the Sooners at Owen.

Typically we play OU well, even when we're outmatched. A notable exception was the Big XII Championship in the 2004ish timeframe.

BUT...

I'd be surprised if we keep it close tonight. But then again, I'm usually wrong about these things.

Tramel is a great writer. He always looks at the history behind the games. I love that about his style and it paid off in that column today. Good stuff.

Not a bad article, I appreciate his last comment: "But tonight as the clock ticks late and the lopsided score mounts, remember this fine football series not for what it is, but what it was."

He's actually quite respectful of the Buff program which was cool to hear--BUT, if you listened to his comments in the video, he rightfully rips Hawkins, stating CU under Hawkins is "non-competitive."

he does describe the Hawkins era as "disastrous"....a word not lacking in ambiguity.....

He wasn't kind to the Hawk regime, that's for sure. I wish Bohn et al would come right out and admit the disastrous and non-competitive era of the Hawk, and just pull the damn trigger!

CU did keep things close at #1 texas a year ago until that fatal mistake. not looking for it to happen but CU has put together decent performances in these situations in the past.
