We may as well have fun with this. Throw out names and bios of former Buff players who might be good choices to fill the position coach jobs for the next staff:

QB Coach: Koy Detmer, Joel Klatt, Mike Moschetti

RB Coach: Eric Bieniemy, Darian Hagan

WR Coach: Dave Logan, Cedric Cormier, Darrin Chiaverini, Michael Westbrook

TE Coach: Jon Embree, Christian Fauria

OL Coach: Brad Bedell, Clint Moles, Stan Brock, Jay Leeuwenberg, Victor Rogers

DB Coach: Ronnie Bradford, Ryan Walters, Chris Hudson, David Gibbs

LB Coach: Brian Cabral, Matt Russell, Greg Biekert, Chad Brown

DL Coach: Alfred Williams, Kanavis McGhee, Joel Steed, Arthur Walker

ST Coach: Barry Helton, Ben Kelly, Mitch Berger, Cliff Branch

I'll update this list as people post the case for different guys.

Former Buff players only?

Yep. Let's not do retread Buff coaches. So someone like Cabral or Embree is fair game but choosing someone like Dorrell isn't. I'm interested to see what we can come up with, what positions are stacked, and where we may look a bit light. Hopefully it will be fun. And I think we'll actually end up with a pretty impressive list.

QB Coach: Koy Detmer

RB Coach: Eric Bienemy

WR Coach: Scotty McKnight

TE Coach: Jon Embree

OL Coach: Victor Rogers

DB Coach: David Gibbs

LB Coach: Brian Cabral

DL Coach: Art Walker

ST Coach: Will have to think on this one...

I'll update my list as some names come to mind for the other positions.

QB: Koy Detmer.

A very smart pick for sure. He has had a long career in the NFL and remember CU went to a spread and passing offense in Detmer's first year as the QB? Remember that CU-OU tie game back in '92? I have no doubts that Detmer could coach a QB in a spread offense that CU will most likely have with any new coach next season.

List to be updated...

I'll nominate Clint Moles for OL coach. Allbuff, buff coach! Has H.S. coaching experience, knows the position, could possibly utilize his connections in Florida for some recruits there.

I'll also throw Klatt in there for QB coach. Grew up in a coaching family, loves and is passionate about the program.

I really like the idea of Koy Detmer as QB coach. I'm really not fond of the going back to glory past and just hiring coaches that played, but I really think he'd make a good QB coach.

RB Coach: no idea

WR Coach: Dave Logan

TE Coach: Embree? That's probably too easy.

OL Coach: Bedell

DL Coach: Alfred Williams

LB Coach: Matt Russell

DB Coach: Ryan Walters

ST Coach: no idea

...as a holder for the Eagles  I say make him Special Teams coach (tongue firmly in cheek) - he's far more qualified than Riddle!

You have no idea on RB??? It's simple, you want Bieniemy on Staff. The guy is a motivator with tons of energy and a hell of a recruiter! Not that we're playing Nebraska anymore after this season, but with Eric involved with this team someway, the buffs have a 4 game winning streak over the huskers. I don't think theres another buff who can say that or that have done that.

I'll start by editing in Darian Hagan and Eric Bieniemy for RB Coach, Brian Cabral for LB Coach, and Jon Embree for TE Coach since those are the obvious ones.

Also, I saw rward post Ronnie Bradford for DB Coach on Rivals and AZ's this morning. I hadn't thought about him and that's an interesting candidate.

While at CU, Bradford blocked the extra point in the national championship game that ended up being our victory margin. Finished his CU degree in 1995.

Professional resume:

1993-2002 NFL Player (Denver, Arizona, Atlanta, Minnesota)
2003-2006 Broncos ST Coach
2007-2008 Broncos DB Coach
2009 Chiefs Defensive Assistant
2010 current Cal Administrative Assistant - Defense (DC Clancy Pendergast brought Ronnie with him from the Chiefs when he took the Cal job)

I meant no idea as in no way does EB come here as simply a RB coach. Other than EB, I have no idea. If EB would come here as RB coach, obviously we bring him in.

Don't worry about that. Notice I didn't include coordinator positions. So a RB coach could also be an OC, a LB coach could also be a DC, a ST coach could also be the Assistant Head Coach. Actually, the ST coach is the weird one I put in there. Likely we wouldn't hire someone specifically for that, but our ST have been so bad I figured it wouldn't hurt to throw that in there.

Here's another one:

WR Coach

Cedric Cormier
Born in Houston, TX
2002 CU Graduate
4-year letter winner and 2-year starter

2010 UNLV WR Coach
2009 Miami (OH) WR Coach
2007-2008 Montana WR Coach (won 1-AA championship)
2004-2006 Assistant at Channelview and Baytown High Schools in Texas

Totally forgot about Cormier. Wasn't there a rumor he was a candidate for the WR coach position this last year?

Never mind, I'm taking things too seriously today since there are people on TOSs that are doing this as a serious exercise!

A few more names for the mix:
Greg Biekert for LB - currently coaching for the Raiders. 11 years playing in the NFL
Stan Brock for OL - ex-HC @ Army. 16 years playing in the NFL

The title had me psyched out. I figured you meant we should pick a coaching line up of allbuff posters...

DT - syko

LB - sacky

ST - buffs4bcs

etc.

I think that would be much more fun at this point.

This is the quickest path to driving this program further into the ground. We need the best coaches available, not just go out and hire a bunch of Buffs because we remember them playing well during CUs glory years.

No sh!t. But we're fans, not AD employees. Nothing wrong with us having fun with this and remembering the good ole days.

I didn't know Biekert was on the Raiders' staff now. He's from Longmont. I bet he'd come back. Definitely a guy who belongs on the list.

Anyone know what Brock's been doing the past couple years since Army fired him? He's way too young to retire. He'd be a great guy to have on staff if our next HC doesn't have experience in the top job.

Yeah, my bad, wasn't paying close enough attention and I was riled up from other sites actually believing this is the correct answer. I'm becoming a crotchety old man.

There are other sites that are actually posting that McCartney is coming back, and he has so much power, that he was able to convince Bohn that Gary Barnett should be on his staff --- and people are buying it!!!!!!

I'm going to throw Kanavis McGhee in there as a potential DL Coach.

Butkus and Lombardi finalist at CU. Won a national championship.

After his NFL career, McGhee was a high school head coach in the Houston area.

He then went through the NFL's coach training program and spent two seasons with the Amsterdam Admirals coaching DL.

I'm not sure he's still coaching or if he's only teaching these days.

Detmer would be a great QB coach plus his last name is still well known in Texas. He would be a great recruiter out of Texas.

I should be Special Teams coach-
I brought up the 2 point conversion BS back when CU first did it against UGA.
I promise I'd NEVER go for 2 in the first qtr EVER.
