Colorado football coaches received their first commitment of the 2011 recruiting class in the middle of June from quarterback Nick Sherry of Petaluma, Calif.

Sounds like the coaching staff may be working it but they know the end is coming. Johnson saying it will all clear up long before signing day is pretty telling.

best thing to come out of this article is .....

CU coaches have hosted only 10 prospects on official campus visits so far this season. They are allowed to host 56 per year and when they have "banked" leftover visits from the previous year, the number can grown to as many as 61. CU has 61 officials visits available in this cycle.

The new coaching staff will have plenty of hosting spots when they try to salvage this recruiting year-

"In Kiesau`s case, it`s very likely he will still be here next season regardless of whether the school chooses to fire Dan Hawkins and the rest of the staff."

Kiesau may be hamstrung by DII's idiocy, but I have a hard time believing you keep this guy simply because he has one more year on his contract. I am of the opinion that if you are bringing in a new coach, you pretty much need to bring in a whole new staff. Keep Cabral and maybe Ambrose and Prince.

This makes less and less sense to me. We only have a precious few multi-year contracts. Why waste one of them on a young/failed OC from a previous regime?

Because we're already buying out a contract to the tune of $2 million. How could we possibly afford $200K more?

If the new coach is forced to keep Kiesau on staff next year because the AD does not want to buy out his contract... just wow.
