Cash sought for Cam Newton

Mother ****er. That would be the perfect capper to an already ****ty football season.

I have heard some interesting stories about Auburn paying players. This wouldn't surprise me.

this is where Auburn fans claim that Alabama boosters set them up and paid this guy off to make up the story. and vice versa.

Well Phil Fulmer actually did turn in Alabama for paying a high schooler the last time Alabama was put on probation.

pass on malzahn... lets get miles

Malzahn, or any of the Auburn coaching staff, had nothing to do with this.

If this does come to fruition, it could be a good thing for us because Malzahn could very well want to get away from that program. Auburn is one of the most scandal-plagued programs and it could potentially kill a coach's career and I'm sure he knows that.

I just glanced over the story, but I didn't see anything about alleged payments to Cam.

The rumor surfaced on other forums a few days ago... I'll sum it up as briefly as I can.

Cam publicly stated he wanted to attend Mississippi State, but his father "talked" him into attending Auburn University instead. Shortly after signing day, an Atlanta news article was published saying Newton's father received an anonymous donation of $200,000 for his church (because he is a preacher), which will allow his church to expand a new wing, or something along the lines of that.

The speculation is, Cam wanted to attend Mississippi State, but his father was given the money by an Auburn affiliate, which is why convinced Cam into signing with Auburn. Now that Mississippi State is coming out with this, there's no doubt in my mind something is not right and all signs point to Auburn, Alabama right now. Whether Cam received anything or not, it's still is considered "an improper benefit" and Auburn could be severely nailed for it.

I find it hard to believe that the church would accept anything improper like this. I guess honest preachers like Billy Graham and Jim & Tammy Faye are much harder to find these days.

What was it they said about Tammy? That she was like Vail or something; six inches of base and an inch of fresh powder (I understand it's not a skiable depth, but it was sort of funny at the time).

I'm thinking Sandra Bullock had something to do with this, OL' Miss put her up to it...

The church was going to be condemned for building code issues.

And why wouldn't a preacher do this? I haven't read the bible in a while, but I don't recall JC or one of the OT prophets saying anything about breaking NCAA rules.

Why Bosie might like this:
If it turns out Auburn paid for him, I can't see them playing for the MNC

Since you follow Auburn as close as anyone on the board, I wanted to get your opinion on Cam. I have watched a few games and a few stories about the guy and I really get the impression that he is either dumb as a rock or very immature. When I see him on the sidelines its like watching my nephew in pee wee ball. He seems more interested in playing grab ass than paying attention to the game. Factor in his history at Florida and you have to wonder what level his brain functions at.
