Cody Passing Yards Scandal - Is This Really Happening?

Section106

Let me get this straight... Kiesau and Hawkins are intentionally padding Cody's stats, knowing it's their last year, and purposely leaving a giant F.U. in our record books?

and Bohn is letting it happen KNOWING it cost us a win?

Obviously Klatt is the most outspoken critic of Hawkins so the idea that Hawkins and Kiesau are doing it purposely to dethrone Klatt is a very real possibility.

Somebody tell me this isn't happening...

I went back and looked at the play-by-play.

While I can't speak to how much time they were winding off the clock prior to each snap, how much effort was spent staying in bounds and other clock-management fundamentals, most of the play calls seemed fairly defendable.

The inability to take care of the ball, and prevent turnovers was not. It was a coaching issue, but I'm not sold on the "Cody Stats First" conspiracy.

How is passing the ball int he 4th instead of killing time defendable? I wouldn't doubt this for a minute.

Well, most drives started off with a couple of runs, and the passing plays appeared to be designed to move the markers. Again, turnovers were the real culprit.

Okay but there's no need to be passing when you're up 45-17. That's padding that stats my friend.

I'm a big fan of clock management, and running the clock when you're winning in the second half. But you still need to move the ball and sustain drives.

Speedy had 175 yards rushing, and 3 TDs, they were doing fine running the ball.

You know what? I just went back and reviewed the plays one more time. I don't know what the **** I was talking about. Many of those passing plays were completely unjustified.

Only time I could see it being justifiable is if it's 3rd and long. But I do believe after looking at it, Hawkins is padding Prince Hawkins stats.

More than just tyring to pad Cody stats, I think the staff is just this bad. My guess is it was more of a desire to put up as many points as possible to show that their system works fine and to come out and try to justify Hawk's approach to the game. I am not sure that Dan can see past himself at this point. I truly think he is delusional and thought he could use this game as a way to justify his approach. Turned out he was correct. He proved he and this staff know nothing about coaching.

Really people? What's next, jesse the body ventura investigating this conspiracy? Hawk and staff suck, I doubt padding cody's stats to pass stewart is the reason. They are just ****ing dumb. Think about what all had to happen for this comeback. First, defense gives up a td, then kansas get an onside kick that was questionable but whatever. Then another score because our defense suddenly turns to ****. Then a fumble on a wr run they take to the house? Then an interception and another score. We punt, they score again on our ****ing pathetic defense and then cu gets stopped at the 2 yd line after a td pass that was but wasn't?

Perfect storm- ****ty coaching, ****ty defense, ****ty turnovers.

I'm sitting here at 1:30 in the morning still wondering how the **** we could blow this game.

Most of you:
If you kept your old student IDs, you might try checking into Wardenburg for a little mental health tune-up.

In the 4th quarter it was extremely poor - they were routinely snapping the ball with 7-10 seconds left on the play clock...for once our offense was too efficient in getting off plays...

i don't think there is a conspiracy. i think the staff just totally sucks, especially hawkins, kiesau, and the riddler. they thought they were so much better athletically than ku that they could run up the score and use this as a "statement" game to try to get some momentum headed into the final part of the season. they wanted the team to get some swagger back. it so totally blew up in their faces that i don't know whether i should laugh or cry. they are terrible. horrible. awful. they suck. continuing to put the team out there to suffer these indignities because their coaches are so completely inept borders on cruelty.

fire them now.

There are two options here: (1) our coach is so terrible he may be functionally retarded. (2) he's actually trying to get Cody the record.

Wow.

Someone needs to look at the numbers more closely, but if we had simply started kneeling on the ball at 45-17 (I know, I know, but **** Ghandi) and punted every drive, would KU have had time to win the game. I honestly doubt it. They had success running up the middle all day, why stop now. If it's because you're worried about Stewart getting hurt, then find someone who can run straight up the gut for 2 yards and then punt it away. Absolutely ridiculous.

You forget about our squib punts and special teams in general.

No, that's exactly my point. Even with our ****ty special teams, the only way they lose that game is by turnovers or blocked kicks. Run three times for zero yards, punt it for 30 yards and play base defense, KU doesn't have enough time to win.

:yeahthat:

Our coaches are the only people on the planet that couldn't figure out how to win this game.

Wow.

i honestly believe this to be the truth. amazing.

well, sometimes in competition, you make some bonehead decisions. i used to play competitive golf and after a bad round you are blown away by some of your bad decision making. wtf? but, these guys find a new way to do this every week. that we get routinely outplayed and give up cheap points on special teams in every phase is certainly part of it. a couple short fields and KU is thinking they have a chance. then we throw an INT. bingo, it's on. it's like Danny says, once a team gets a little "momentum" they get that "swagger" and start to believe. prob: it was KU that started to believe and we could even line up and run our plays. our 2nd or 3rd to last possession we run 3 plays and almost turn it over twice! they drop an INT (says KOA) and we fumble after a sack. serious choking.

we give up 16 points in the last 2 minutes of the half @ OU, ballgame. they rush a guy, unblocked straight to the place where our goofball rugby punt happens....it's hilarious. they had to have seen that on film and gameplanned it. no point rolling out, if you kick from the same spot every time. OU gets a safety, and then a short field.

From some things that are being whispered in the dark corners of the internet (near a virtual burrito stand)...

It sounds like Hawkins was directing Kiesau in the 4th quarter to keep the pressure on and try to really blow KU out for a statement win.

Can you imagine what was going through Speedy's head during the fourth quarter during his career day? Uggg...

He got his statement game!! Well done Danny Boy!

If this is true it sums up all things wrong with D2D. Prior to D2D, KU on the schedule was an automatic win. Now we are trying to get a statement win against the only conference team that on paper looks as crappy as us.

I've got no problem with that. I was hoping CU would run it up. They needed a big win in the worst way.

The problem is that our starting RB was well on his way to 200 yards. And if he was getting tired, I am sure Will Jefferson would have been happy to run the ball 10 times in the 4th quarter.

Cody wasn't lighting the whorl on fire in the 3rd quarter the same way he did in the 1st half. That the coaches didn't just pound the ball for the rest of the game and seal the victory just further establishes how completely ****ing clueless these clowns are.

Cody passed Kordell yesterday to become the #2 guy. This season is lost. But, it still is and always will be about trying to win games. Cody will need to pass in order for us to win any of the last 3 games. Who cares about Klatt's feelings. Records are meant to be broken. Big ****ing deal, Joel.
