Scratch these two off our list....

It sounds like Les Miles couldn't wait to get here. Damn you Nick Saban!

For those of you too lazy to follow the link :smile2: no Bellotti, no Malzahn, odds on Miles went down with his win over Bama.

Just keep in mind the author of that article was Henderson..

With a glowing review of Oregon. I guess he is going to write those type of stories about Oregon now that CU is out of the Big 12. At least his love for Oregon makes sense.

At least he's upfront about his homerism...i give him a tiny bit of props for that...

You must go Mac now. He can at least get the table set for the next time Miles falls out of favor.

The longer Bohn waits the shorter the list for good coaches take your time Mike no hurry we dont want to hurt misty and cody's feelings.

Hey, LSU still has a shot to lose to Ole Miss and Arkansas. If he lost both he'd be ran out of town. Still some hope there!

Bellotti never had a shot with CU, he doesn't want it, and there's no way Benson signs of on hiring him based on his aversion to controversy.

I get that Malzahn is one of the big names out there, but he's an ex high school coach with 4 years of distinctly average offenses outside of Cam Newton, and Newton could make Hawkins look like a genius.

Meh - was never really interested in Bellotti anyway.

SanDiegoBuff -- your info is wrong on Malzahn. He did very good things offensively at Auburn. Somebody posted a pretty good summary of how offenses improved under his watch.. Maybe I will get off my lazy ass and search for it..

I wonder who the Hawkins family will hire when they are ready to go back to Idaho. At least the table is set.

Yep. Top 10 in scoring offense both of his years at Tulsa. Top 20 in scoring offense at Auburn in 2009 at Auburn without Cam Newton. Yeah, he certainly is an average coach.

additionally, recall that Tuberville got fired because of an ill-fated attempt to run the "spread" with the OC from Troy (which ended acrimoniously). Auburn simply didn't have the personnel to run anything remotely close to the spread. Malzahn came in and had a top 20 scoring O with largely the same personnel. and then came Newton.

that said, not sure Malzahn is ready for the big chair....though, he's a hot name and CU could (have) certainly used some buzz on the recruiting trail.

I said that yesterday and for some reason like 4 people jumped all over me on this one saying it was stupid..... But I totally agree.... longer we wait the more we hurt this program.

Really? Did people say "it was stupid", or did they simply disagree and then explain their reasons why?

Correct. The OC from Troy did not even finish out his first season and Auburn finished in the 100s in terms of most offensive rankings. Malzahn took over a team with Chris Todd as QB and made them look good on offense. I cannot overstate how good a coaching job that was.

I also agree that Malzahn might not be quite ready for a HC job, but I guess you never know until he makes the jump.

Imho, there are only two or three problems with Malzahn as a candidate. 1: Coaching Tree (it is VERY limited, remember only 4 years out of HS). 2: Recruiting. No one knows what he can do in this regard without paying kids 200k to come here. (sorry BB ). (3): Obviously we don't realy know if he can 'manage" a program from the top spot... but that is no different than any other coordinator. Other than that, obviously he knows what the **** he is doing.

I think it was more of a disagreement as well. We all have opinions and I have not seen any that are flat out stupid. Just different thought processes or rationale for the opinions.

Well actually, I thought it was stupid. I just didn't say that at the time.
