Klatt says he had only been called in for a meeting on an off day a few times, and "Never, never, has it been good."

Side note: isn't this an NCAA violation?

Can somebody elaborate on the "this may be a ncaa violation" angle? Why would that be?

The administration/coaches CANNOT call a meeting on the NCAA mandated Off day. However, I missed the "players only" part. Probably just a smoke screen.

With MB, you never know. It could be a circle the wagons around D II meeting too you know....

Bottom line, I have very little confidence that MB has enough backbone to make a solid move. IF he does the right thing, it will be because of the hurricane winds pushing the windsock in the direction he goes....

If it is the NCAA will let it go, after all having to listen to Dan Hawkins spout his stuff is punishment enough for the players. For the school his memory is worse than anything they can give us.

Actually I think they just have regulations about how many required contact hours they can have with the players each week. If they have a mandatory meeting today they have to count it and subtract that time from some other mandatory function like practice or film time.

Could be, Klatt said that too. That sure would be a punch in the gut.

From Adam over at Rivals

According to NCAA rules, there are not supposed to be any meetings initiated by coaches or other staff members on athletically related matters during the players’ off day.

If Bohn is calling a mandatory meeting for players, as Klatt said, it isn't going to be a kumbaya, let's rally around Hawk meeting. If they're going to push that rule, it's going to be for something big.

Probably Bohn doesn't even know the rule....

Heres why I think its the Coach is gone meeting not a rally meeting.
If I remember correctly, the Buffs practice very early in the morning. So you have to have this kind of meeting today, so the players don't have to show up at five in the morning to hear the news.
If they practiced in the afternoon, then I bet it would be tomorrow.

and your new allbuffs pledge name shall be "mao-snarkist".

why, you say?

why not!

I like that one. I would put that as my title, but it is far to close to 96's "resident commie bastard" one....

So maybe I'm missing something here, but how can they get away with having this meeting today? Or does the NCAA give schools a pass if it's for something as major as to announce to the team that their coach is history?

I can't be the only getting teased unrelentlessly by the giant picture of D2D on the camera's website. Every time I hop on there hoping for official public news (which is every 10 minutes), I get my hopes up.

welcome to the addiction.

i suspect the rule has to do with coaching, conditioning, prep, etc. this would not be about those things. it would be, hopefully, about chumpkins "getting on his horse and riding" right the hell out of boulder. i am guessing on the rule...

Per donmac at Rivals, he just talked to a PLAYER saying the meeting is NOT True. **** all this **** I am so tired!
