Names back on the Jersies?

Any chance of that this weekend?

Or does that require an other team vote?

Hope so...that **** is annoying. Whoever took those names off is a damn moron.

I couldn't agree more. My seats aren't the closest in the world and despite good eyesight I can't see the dern numbers on the other side of the field. So its either living with that, or buying a program and bringing a radio headset... I wasn't planning on being "that guy" for at least 40 years.

The only people that get punished with the "no name" gimmick are fans and media/spotters/etc. The whole "Its for the name on the front not the back" is crap. I think people work harder when there's a chance for individual recognition.

I defended the name thing at the time it was announced. My take was that as long as the players were behind it, it wouldn't hurt and just might help a bit. I always thought it was a ploy that only meant anything if the team started the season strong and believed this was part of why. Well, that went out the window at Cal and it has become clear that this didn't come from the players. Put the names back on. The players seem to want them. It may help this week and couldn't hurt.

I know there are teams that do this all the time -- to the players and potential recruits, it's just the way it is. There have been teams that do it for a year, in a solidarity move. The Buffs move smelled of desparation.

It wouldn't surprise me to see the names back on for the rest of the year. However, I imagine that would be a logistical nightmare.

Hawk theory - No names on the back of the jerseys, guys play for the name on the front of the jersey. No individuals, only team matters.

Winners know - Teams win when individuals step up and win their battles, the name on the jersey says I am accountable to the fans, my teammates, and myself. I screw up and everyone knows who did it, make a great play for my team and everyone knows who did it.

Football is a team sport but a team is a group of individuals stepping up for a common goal.

If not this year, they better be back on next year. I really do not like not having the names back there...

The basketball team should do the same thing IMO. The womans team has names, the mens team didnt. I figured that was a Bz thing, but even Boyle is keeping the names off the back.

Or even worse, binoculars...

I think you contradicted yourself. Does it affect the players too, or not? I would absolutely think it does. What kid wouldn't like their name flashed across the TV screen...
