Chuck Neinas

He also played a big role in landing Hawk. I say the search is easy and Neinas is not needed. Just go hire Bieniemy!!

EB will not be the next HC at the University of Colorado and Neinas helped screw the pooch last go round.

Hawk was the right hire at the time.....turns out, it was a really bad hire.

Can we trade Hawk for Stoops?

I thought Bohn had said something to the effect that the route (i.e. Nienas) he went last time in hiring Hawkins had failed and he would not go that route this time.

Chuck' recommendations have done better than 15% hires what a lot of people don't see is his success at the AD and organizational levels for hires as well. He is a true pro, and he's often able to sell candidates on a job in a way that most school administrators could not.

the guys bats like 15% when it comes to hiring.

I thought the role of a consultant was to discreetly gauge interest and function as an intermediary between the two parties of interest. Whether or not Hawk succeed shouldn't be put on Neinas. It just seems that the connection between Neinas, CU, and Bohn is strong and I'm sure they've reached out to Neinas for information regarding coaches outside CU's sphere of influence.

Neinas is often involved in coaching searches in that he can act as an intermediary between schools and potential hires. Schools can tell Neinas what they are looking for in a potential hire, and what kind of pay they are willing to pay the new hire. Neinas then acts as the initial interview, communicating with potential coaches, gauging their interest and determining whether they will fit into the pay scale the school sets up. Neinas can do a lot of the preliminary work, leaving the school free to do the final interviews, etc.

Neinas was used in the Hawkins process, and Bohn has been on the record before saying he did not think he would utilize Neinas again.

That will be very sad if Bohn doesn't give Eb a serious look, VERY SAD!

And a big mistake publicly. EB is a highly regarded coach who some believe could be an HC in the NFL very soon. Plus, if he is not seriously being considered, the players that played with and/or know EB will be very vocal about it.

When you hear people talking about schools reaching out to a potential coach through "back channels" much of the time that means Neinas. And whoever said he is batting 15% is clueless. If memory serves he had a hand in the Stoops hiring at OU and Urban Meyer to Florida so he is VERY well connected, and yes his office is out in Gunbarrell.

yes those are two that he did hit on. Notice that I didn't say 0%. he was also involved in Ron Prince at KSU, Hawkins here, Tyrone Willingham at Washington AND Notre Dame.

15% is probably and understatement and it is probably closer to 40 or 50%. He has been involved with 34 head coaching hires for football

This is very much the case by reaching out to/through Neinas Sports schools and individuals can gauge each other's respective interest with out facing major scrutiny. If there is potential then Chuck can move the process forward more easily than a cumbersome AD. Rumor has it Chuck's been very busy again of late, although as noted earlier he services are no longer welcome around Dal Ward, he and Mike do maintain a friendship though.

It will be very sad if Bohn doesn't give every candidate out there a serious look. We really can't afford to have him decide this is an easy search and there is one right candidate for him to jump on RIGHT NOW!!!!!

I have no idea how serious he's being considered and I think you might be mistaken about all of the former players being vocal.

Neinas is just a reflection of the system. The system can act very much like a good old boys club. IMO, that would explain some of the misfires. It is an inexact science and no headhunter bats .1000....

I think Neinas was the commisioner of the Big 8 at one point.

A search committee is being used, so that MB has someone to blame if he screws up with his pick. He's making $400k a year and doesn't know who's available or would be the best choice?

Really? I haven't heard Bohn blame Neinas for the Hawk hire. Whether they use Neinas or not, they'll use someone because you have to be able to work behind the scenes to guage interest and discuss preliminary salary numbers. You know how coaches say "I have not talked with school X?" That's because his agent is talking to Neinas or someone like him.

 not bad, not bad. However, really, are you in a position to be picky about snowbunnies?

I'm really not all that interested in them anymore. I used to be, but for some reason I soured on them. It was back around Feb 2008 that SnowBunnies just stopped appealing to me....
