Cabral legitimate HC Candidate?

I have to say I was impressed so far. The team seemed to be a wreck after KU and then DH got fired and Cabral, in just 5 days, smoothed over a really bad situation and prepared the team and took them to victory. And they looked good doing it. Thats leadership.

The big question mark when Dan was fired, imho, was what would Cody do? Would he quit? Would he throw the game? Or, most likely, would he just be an unfocused emotional basket case of some kind. Cabral seems to have most impressively smoothed the situation even telling the media that "Cody is the team's leader". A nice pat on the back. If Cody had imploded we would have burned a red shirt and started a freshman today and we'd probably have lost in more ways than one. Instead he seems to have given Cody confidence and put him in a position to win. Cody congratulating Cabral at the end was classy.

Overall I thought the game today looked much more well managed. Good combination of run and pass. Strong defense. Better kicking game. Great containment of ISU. And fewer penalties and poor play calling. Certainly the gased running game at the end is concerning but you can't blame Cabral for that.

I really don't know if he is the right guy. But if he wins out, and that is a tall order, he would have ended the road losing streak and he will have done it in Lincoln against a ranked team that is one of our favorites. For that achievement he should get consideration for the job in my humble opinion.

Would Cabral be able to bring in the assistants? That's the only Q I have for any HC coming in. We may be able to get Brown back as DC. That guy can recruit. What about OC and the like? That's a concern, even if we still win out.

The guy needs a serious look at, just out of respect. Not a bull**** one either.

I think Cabral today showed just why it is SOOOO important right now that the next coaching hire be someone from within the program. Whether that's McCartney, or Bienemy, or Embree, or Cabral or whatever -- there is just a different level of passion and motivation.

And the better defense was a HUGE improvement!!!!!

For sure in terms of the assistants. I think the assistants on defense are more secure if Cabral stays. On offense, well, we shall see.

Kiesau called a good game today. Im interested to see if he can do it again two more times. Cabral has obviously taken the leash of Kiesau though I think he smartly probably overrode him to kick the field goal on that first drive rather than go for it. DH would probably have gone for it. That gave Goodman an easy confidence booster chip shot and he later kicked a nice long FG. He took the easy points and that boosted the team.

I loved Cabral today. If he wins out I want him as coach. The team rallied around him so well. Did you see the way they all took a knee around him at the end while he was doing that interview. .. I know he probably asked them to stay out there, but you could feel the connection

I dont think Cabral should be considered and I think next coach should be able to fill their staff the way they see fit. I would hope that Cabral is kept going forward though.

He has defiantly earned an interview at the least. Win out and he moves into top 3 for consideration IMHO.

Scottie McKnight said he also pulled some "old traditions" out for the team before the game and that they were pretty cool. I wonder what those were.

He should get consideration. Not sure he would be the hire we need right now though.

I don't think he has to win out to at least get an interview, they just need to go 1-1 in the last 2 but more importantly play well in both of them.

Lets see:

Les Miles
Richt
Belotti
Macartney
Malzahn
EB
Cabral

Yeah I dont think he is even in the top three of CU guys IMO.

Miles keeps winning and probably will still be at LSU at the end of the year, the admin likes him a lot.
Richt is not very likely, if fired I think he will not coach next year.
Belotti is not interested
Mac will be the AD (just speculation on my part)
Malzahn's stock may go down after the Newton thing, he may have had nothing to do with it, but is part of that staff.

Leaves EB, Cabral and any other coaches we don't know about yet. If he wins it he is in the top 3. That doesn't mean he will be our next HC.

NO NO on Calhoun.

Cabral > Calhoun as far as I'm concerned. Not sure why Mike has a hardon for rocky mountain candidates. Sports exist outside the rockies too Mike!

If the guy beats KSU, NU and wins the bowl game to put us at 7-6, I think he would have to be seriously considered for the job.

I'm seeing a lot of factions forming. Some are for Mac. Others for EB. Others for Malzahn/Richt/Miles/Bellotti. Now I'm sure there will be a group forming to support Cabral.

Every candidate has positive and negative atributes.
