Coaching Search --- What I want to see!!!

I have said this before but since everyone is throwing out who they want I thought I would state it again.

First and foremost, I want an honest search where the candidates are properly vetted. No this blinders on, pre-selection of a candidate. (Personally I think Bohn needs to take a class in hiring.)

I really do not know who is the best candidate nor will I since I do not get to sit in the room and ask the questions.

Here are the minimum criteria:

1. BCS level recruiting experience.
2. BCS level experience as a coordinator.
3. Been mentored at some point in their career by a top coach.
(Hawkins would not of made the cut here - nor does Dave Logan)

Here is what I would look for as characteristics:

1. Someone with passion and energy.
2. Integrity.
3. A good work ethic.
4. Presents himself well.

Here are the questions he needs to answer:

1. What is his plan for recruiting?
2. What is his plan for hiring and retaining a staff? What does he look for in his staff?
3. What is his plan for discipline of his players?
4. What is his plan for academics?
5. How is he planning on interacting with fans and boosters?

Go through a process like that and you are more likely to get the right guy.

There are several listed candidates that I can get behind and some that I cannot but there are a lot more that most of us know nothing about that a good search will uncover.

There are plenty of people who would love a chance to coach at CU.

I like your questions, characteristics and minimum criteria.

I would add that I would like the coach to tell Bohn what type of commitment he wants from the university to succeed. I mean this in terms of money, facilities, PR, etc. I would like this hire to not only change the coaching at CU, but to help renew the commitment to football from the university.

Is there even going to be a search?

We're now 1 week out from Dan Hawkins' firing and I haven't really heard a peep from the Athletic Director on how this search is going. There was some talk of a search committee, but where is it? Who is on it?

There seems to be some "smoke" out there that there are interested candidates -- but who??

This thing is being kept very hush hush, which to me points (so far) to another Bohn-gets-to-pick hire.

I hope there is a serious, official search party, and there is true "vetting" of candidates. (Love that word, by the way) But right now it certainly doesn't look like that's going to happen.

I would ask: "do you think this place is burned to the ground?"

If we know anything about Bohn, it is that he is a ****ing secret agent spy master lately. Pac 12 move etc. Nothing until it was done.

It's come out that Richt, Bellotti, Miles, and I'm sure several others have already had their temperature taken. Letting Hawkins go during the season was as good as running a help wanted ad on SportsCenter. I'm sure anyone interested in the job has been in contact with Bohn or Neinas or whoever Bohn's liaison is.

Some ppl getting really bent over on TOS about Bohn not tipping his hand. Don't get it. At all.

I would expect Bohn to be pretty much 100% silent about the process for now out of respect for our current HC and the team who still have football to play. He's not going to step on Cabral's dick. I'd guess the final candidates will be brought in for interviews after the NU game, and the new HC announced within 2 weeks. That will leave the new coach with plenty time to line up a few recruits before NSD.

I agree with this. No blinders, no zeroing in on the right guy until looking around.

As I've said before in other threads, why limit your search with arbitrary restrictions like this? Florida would never have gotten Urban Meyer with restrictions like this. I don't really care if the eventual hire has BCS coordinator or HC experience. I want them to find the right guy for the job.

some people think a coach has already been picked & Bohn is staying quiet till after Nebraska.... who know ?
