Great Woody Paige insight

*50 boosters for $1 million each still on the table. Should be a major announcement about that group within two months.

*22 different head coaching canadiates and Woody Paige has talked to some people on that list and those people told Woody that the CU job is VERY ATTRACTIVE.

*Woody does love CSU but gets tired of CSU fans whining about getting the short end of things in this state compared to CU and rips CSU's attendance numbers.

Woody also talks about knowing Bohn for a long time and that is why we need to support Bohn.

Man, that 50 Donors for $50 million would be HUGE for this program! I'm assuming these donors are waiting to see which direction the program is going before they open their checkbooks. Another reason why it's imperative that the AD makes the right pick for head coach.

Was great to read this! I'm excited that the $50 million dollar donor thing is still alive and was really nice to see him put CSU in their place!! Woody gets a rep from me today... nice to see him dispell the stupid Denver Media claims that CU is "not a good job" - I'm talking to you Henderson.

Remember guys, ReedMarks and buffchips radio has been talking about how you gotta watch what Woody says for like a month now. I love this news. national search? you betcha.

To add a few things: AZ now thinks Bellotti is Bohn's #1 candidate, and that they would go up in salary to do it. Interesting. Even though I think AZ's logic is spotty, again, signs that everyone is hearing different things.

I wonder if AZ realizes that he could be toyed with and that the CU source he is talking to him can just easily feed him BS information? :lol:

Doesn't AZ think a new person is the #1 canidate every couple days?

I loved Woody smacking down the CSU fan. It was refreshing for local media to call them out.

AZ's logic on that isn't spotty - it's flawed. He came to the conclusion that CU was after Bellotti because CU was Nike's #2 school. That's not even close to accurate. And the idea that CU would pick Bellotti in order to improve their standing with Nike is ridiculous!

You got to be kidding me...

..........signs that everyone is hearing different things.

Or signs that no one is hearing JACK!

There is a NW theory Knight wanted to replace Bellotti with Chipper and it was too big of a bite too quick politically, so they moved Mike to the AD position which is a step up in title. Phil Knight was pushing this change. Hard to believe he wasn't, now that Bellotti wants back in so quickly.

The email campaign idea has always been interesting to me. Does anyone actually read any of those emails? It would seem to me that going the route of the old US Postal Service is the better way to go, if you want to show someone you really care. But maybe I am just old fashioned like that.

I got to give Reed some props - he said on his show that there woul be some Calhoun stuff coming out this week and boom. He also said to pay attention to Woody and look what we get today. I think he is better connected than some of these other yahoos.

AFA's final regular season game is this Saturday...any coincidence or not?

I think you probably have a point regarding snail mail, those attempted email campaigns when your active site members ship can be measured in double or triple digits like must Buffs sites wont get you anywhere.

who is the very wealthy oil and gas ceo that woody is talking about? i didn't know cu had any donors like that

  • Dave Hoover, Chairman & CEO/Ball Corporation;
  • Roger Parker (’83, Business-Mineral Land Management), Chairman & CEO/Recovery Energy, Inc.;
  • George Solich (‘83, Business-Mineral Land Management), President & CEO/Cordillera Energy Partners III, LLC
I believe Solich is behind the 50-50 thing.

22 candidates? Anybody else feel like that means they don't really have a gameplan? I understand the idea that you cast a broad net, but surely they have known for the last two months (actually the last two years if they have their heads out of their backsides) that a new HC was needed. And the list is still at 22? Not panicking, just curious....

this is not alarming. hell we recently hired a mid-level project manager and we interviewed / screened at least that many. I'd rather have 22 than 2

I'm not gonna speculate on a gameplan or a process or the philosophy of the committee, but I think the high number of potential candidates is a good thing. If they can talk to all, or at least most, of those "potentials" I think the committee will see a great range of personalities and leadership ideals. While that much information may be somewhat daunting, I believe they will be able to truly recommend a top 5 (or so) candidates to the AD et al.

Count me as one who is pleasantly surprised at the (reported) high number of candidates. I hope its true and not another bs rumor.

They got criticized for hiring not casting a wide enough net in the past (FB, MBB, WBB, and MBB again), so they are trying to show that it's not going to happen again (even if it is).

I have to believe that in order for the donor $$ to flow then the donors will get some sort of a say as to who becomes the next HC at CU. They may not name the next coach (Mac or EB) but I have to believe they will have some say as to who won't be the next HC (Calhoun)
