Ranking the Big 12's All-Academic teams

The Big 12 released the names of its 170-member All-Academic team on Thursday afternoon, and you can see the full list here.

Also, here's how it broke down by school:

First team (GPA: 3.20-plus)

1. Kansas: 14

1.Texas: 14

3. Nebraska: 13

4. Texas A&M: 10

5. Oklahoma: 8

5. Texas Tech: 8

7. Iowa State: 7

7. Kansas State: 7

9. Missouri: 6

9. Oklahoma State: 6

11. Colorado: 4

12. Baylor: 3

The following players earned the distinction of 4.0 GPAs among that group:
  • Blake Lawrence, Nebraska
  • Gabe Ikard, Oklahoma
  • Blane Cheatham, Texas A&M
  • Michael Hodges, Texas A&M
Second team (GPA: 3.0-3.19)

1. Nebraska: 10

2. Missouri: 8

2. Oklahoma: 8

2. Texas A&M: 8

5. Kansas State: 7

5. Texas Tech: 7

7. Colorado: 5

8. Baylor: 4

most everyone on this board could sleepwalk to a 3.0 (2nd team all0big XII?)....in today's college. you have to TRY to not make C's. like skip tests or something. a C is an F, basically.

grade inflation.

queue: hero stories of never going to class.....etc.....3,2,1......

you thought you were getting away with it, but more likely is the Prof didn't care.

I also question the validity of conference "all-academic" teams in general.

How many "all-academic" winners are majoring in the "football friendly" majors at various schools. I am not saying that CU or any other school doesn't have certain majors or schools that are easier than others but we all know that some schools might as well list majors for some of their athletes as "eligibility."
