had never been a head coach and had never coached higher then the 1-AA level. Now he has the #1 team in the country. Jim Harbaugh had similar credentials when he got the Stanford job. My point is that people can get to hung up on résumés. At the end of the day you want the best coach, not the coach with the best résumé. I dont know if Embree is the right guy or not but lets wait and see how he does before bashing the hire.

Just to be clear, Harbaugh was the head coach at 1-AA non-scholarship University of San Diego (my alma mater). So he did have head coaching experience. He is also an epic bad ass.

Thats why i said his credentials were "similar" as oposed to "the same".

Don't get me wrong, I totally agree with your premise and just like to take advantage of the opportunities to publicize my toreros. (Who, by the way, were undeated but kept out of the I-AA playoffs in 2006 by a Montana St. team that had a boost from a victory over the Buffs. That was a rough pill to swallow.)

What is a torero?

Hell I just want this chit to end. More importantly this farce of the past is over now lets get back to hope and supporting the Buffs!

Kelly & Harbaugh were hired because of their credentials and proven ability to do the job. Embree got the job because he's a CU guy. If Embree was an NFL position coach with no ties to CU (like Harbaugh with no ties to Stanford or Kelly with no ties to Oregon), he wouldn't be HC right now. Just sayin...

I'm rooting for him and EB, because at this point there's no other option. But comparing Embree to Harbaugh & Kelly is sort of a laugher.

I agree with you and for the record I was against a "family hire" because it would inevitably lead to someone who is not the most qualified canidate getting the job. Look at the current bcs top 25 and i think only 2 or 3 of those schools have an alum coaching their team. Cleary you dont have to have ties to a school to be succesfull. That being said you seem to be completely missing my point which is that maybe we shouldnt put so much stock in "creditntials and proven ability" as you put it. Our last head coach had all the credentials, how did that work out? If we went and hired some 1-AA OC as our HC (i.e chip Kelly) this board would go into melt down mode but it seemed to work out well for Oregon. Embree may not seem like the best hire right now but you never know. Lets just see how things turn out. Everybody was a "nobody" at some point.

Agreed, and IMO Embree has a pretty nice resume. Sure he could have some coordinator experience, but he has been around and is a smart man. I think he knows what it takes. After hearing about him commenting that the succesful teams in the Pac-10 are the ones that run the ball, it gives me peace in mind that we wont be throwing the ball when up by 4 TD's in the 4th quarter.

Folks, the more I think about this hire, the more excited I get. In fact I am straight up "PUMPED" up for the future fo the Univeristy of Colorado Buffaloes football program!!!

GO BUFFS!!!!
