What is Embree's temperment like?

He's got some charisma, but he is much more reserved than Bieniemy.

Some of his teammates from back in the day call him "Huxtable" after the Cosby Show.

FWIW, Denise Huxtable was HAWT!

Please don't confuse 'reserved' with 'dull'. A lot of people are comparing Embree's temperance to that of Dorrell. Dorrell is dull. Embree may be reserved but is strong respected leader.

Embree on the sideline is a lot different than Embree off the sideline. I remember him being pretty animated on the field.

I remember being in the stands on the other side of the field when he came back in 2003 with UCLA. You had no trouble at all picking him out on their sideline, lets put it that way. Karl Dorrell later said that he couldn't afford to lose his presence on the sideline. Of course, head coaches are all more poker-faced than the assistants (except for loon-poodles like Pellini) but if you didn't like Hawk's post 2008 statue imitation, than Embree should be a pleasant change. He acts like he gives a sh*t.

I hear he is a nice person.

As long as it's somewhere in between Pelini (aneurysm) and Jim Caldwell/Art Shell (comatose) it should be fine.

As my daughter says..."So funny I forgot to laugh"

I think given our current situation the program needs more fire than Embo can bring to bear. Our kids are down in the dumps after years and years of disappointment and they need a guy like EB to lift their spirits and pump up their motivation. After a couple of years when the program has turned the corner JE's unflappable demeanor will be just what the team needs to stay focused and progress from good to great.
