Scholarship limits have caused a lot of parity in the world of college football. Just by playing good solid football a decent team should be able to go to a Bowl game every year.
One reason things have been so tough over the last few years has been that CU left so many wins on the field due lack of intensity and poor coaching (which are the same thing).
2006
Montana State - should of been a win.
CSU - Should of been a win.
Baylor - should of been a win bad team.
Kansas - CU got beat when KU lifted the RS off of Todd Reisling - getting beat by a QB who had never played before when you have the lead - ridiculous. (of course rotating QBs was ridiculous).
KSU - Bad team creams CU - this game was at Folsom
That is 5 games that should of been won - CU would be 7-5
2007
KSU - Not a good team. Should of beat these guys but it was on the road.
ISU - This was the infamous game where CU was up 21-0 at the half and lost 31-28 after a failed 4th down attempt turned the momentum.
2 games - would of been 8-4
2008
I guess I would argue that CU should of beat Texas A&M....but most of the other games went as expected.
1 game - 6-6
2009
CSU - got killed in Folsom by a bad Rams team
Toledo - in many ways worst than Montana State - probably one of the most embarrassing games in recent memory. Most coaches would never lose this.
KSU - A so-so KSU team that had not settled on a QB....they just ground it out on us. A tougher CU team would of won.
ISU - another ugly game. ISU did not want this game but neither did CU.
OSU - OSU was the better team but everything set up for the Buffs. Second string QB who did not complete a pass in the first half. Buffs kept messing up and let them win.
4 or 5 wins lost - a potential 7-5 or 8-5 season.
2010
Baylor - should always beat a team like this in Folsom
TT - see baylor
KU - of course this game got the coach fired.
3 wins left on the field. 8-4
I did not even include the games that CU play well in but lost to better teams.
A little better recruiting, better mental toughness, and better overall coaching and CU should be a force to reckon with. We just were stuck with the most incompetent coach I have ever seen here and that includes Fairbanks.
