Cabral staying as LB Coach unless he gets UNC HC job

Hopefully Denver Johnson will swoop in at the last minute and hit a "home run." Does anyone have any idea what their list looks like?

As much as I love Cabral. I kinda hope he gets the UNC job for him. Would be sad to see him leave, but happy for him to get his HC job. At the same time, I would be happy if he stayed too.

I'm just torn over this. I selfishly want Brian Cabral to stay forever and be the best linebacker coach in the country. Then I want the Buffs to recognize and reward his loyalty, talent and experience with a promotion and a raise.
And then I think: he deserves to be a head coach if that's what he wants. Let him bring UNC back into relevance and have his coaching ability recognized.

At least - if they tap Cabral - I could get up to Greeley to watch some of my guys: Jace Davis, Lex Smith, Conner Glenn and Dylan Orms.

I wouldn't walk across the street to watch Denver Johnson coach.

My sentiments. I want for Coach Cabral to have whatever he wants.

Hey Greg Biekert, I'm happy for you and imma let you finish, but Brian Cabral is the greatest LB coach OF ALL TIME!

Seriously, as far as I'm concerned, this is a win-win situation. If Cabral gets the job at UNC, good for him. He certainly deserves it. If not, he can continue turning young men into Buffs and great LBs.

I would like to see Brian get his chance to be a head coach at UNC. He has proven he can recruit, and with UNC being in the Big Sky, I don't think CU would be competing against him as much for the in state players, as CU does with Fairchild at CSU.

Unless CSU can figure out how to get more than 22k average attendance they might be competing against UNC more directly than they would like. CU with the projected TV payouts in the PAC 12 is one of the top 30-35 schools in the country in terms of football revenue. Unfortunately because we don't make money on basketball the overall AD revenues fall down into the 40-50 range but still respectable. CSU has to be close to the bottom of all BCS level schools in terms of both football and overall revenue. I wonder how long that can continue before somebody says enough and starts pushing for a downgrade to Big Sky level competition and budgets.

If we get a major shift in conference affiliations as some project with 4-5 super conferences controlling everything CSU may not have a choice.

Probably wasn't the best idea building your stadium away from campus next to the suburbs. With ****ty small 2 lane suburb style roads in and out of the place.

UNC would be foolish not to take him. I think his relationship with the mother ship would end up benefitting them with in state recruiting. I have no doubt that the CU staff would steer kids his way. No other hire would bring them that.

We've taken a few decent UNC transfers over the years, too. Some kids could see UNC as a stepping stone to a bigger program once they learn the ropes, get grades in order (if needed), if you know what I mean.

Wristen at CSU-Pueblo has done a great job building a program from the ground up. I wonder if he could be made to see the UNC job as a significant step up.

He knows the Colorado recruiting circuit and has shown he can coach. He also has strong ties to Boulder so some of what has been said about Cabral also would apply to him.

Wristen would be an excellent choice for CSu-Fort Collins if Fairchild can't turn things around next year

I think he would deserve consideration but I hope he doesn't get that job. I think that until some major changes are made up there it will be a coaches graveyard.

Not sure if that is a good move for him. Could be a head coach and then start good traditions there, and maybe someday come back to be HC at CU. I wonder if he has a DC position here, or at least LB coach and co-DC? If he and Brown get along well I could see that being his official status. Either way, I am glad to keep him in any capacity that he will stay.
