Great article about Embree, and better yet, he doesn't take a pot-shot at CU. Take the small victories when you can get them!

EDIT: To "The Junta" - respectfully request you move this to the Football Forum, got doomed by a fast-clicker

navy,

I'm going to take a risk here, go against my better judgment, break policy, and actually click on a Henderson article. You had better not be screwing with me.

Edit: Henderson is off my **** list. Fantastic article. Let's hope he keeps em coming.

That was a good read. There was the Sandra Bernhard reference, but I suppose we deserved that, and it was pretty funny.

still in shock. And he did get digs in at CU in the beginning fwiw.

Yeah, but it was actually funny like zbuff said (and let's face it in some ways, it's still true - especially some of the undergrads) and it was at the beginning so you can get past it and not have a bad taste in your mouth after reading it when he gets his pot-shots in at the end.

Great article, worth the click for once.

Yeah. That Sandra Bernhardt reference put me off.
So did the "predominantly white" reference to Cherry Creek.
And so does the angle of building up Embree as some kind of Mother Theresa. Using Hendo's standards, Jeremy Bloom should have been a contender for HC.

Henderson is making a subtle innuendo that Embree is drawn to the ugly, infirm and wounded. As if....

And based on history, Henderson will be among the first to remind us of the Sports Illustrated mug shots soon after any of Embree and Bienemy recruits run afoul of the law.

Nothing like building 'em up just to knock 'em down, eh John?

If it was anyone but Henderson I'd like the article but because it was him the things skiddy mention just sound personal.

Yes, I read the article a bit ago and wondered as I read why the huge antipathy here for the Denver Post and Henderson. I guess I don't read him enough to pick up all the digs people here refer to. But then again I really don't read opinion columns either in sports or politics as having merit other than the writer's opinion. So if the writer criticizes the CU program that's his opinion. Why take it so seriously?? He is there to be edgy and get people lathered up. These days negative emotion passes for quality somehow or at least for attention. All the hard feelings here against Henderson reminds me of the hatred for Mark May on the Notre Dame blog. Again, I don't pay that much attention but I guess May serves as a foil for Lou Holtz's enthusiasm for ND potential. Taking it seriously, though, is silly.

we dislike it because he (sadly) influences perception of CU. And he has continually attempted to make that perception a negative one. Its not good for the school, and that school is my alma mater. So ya, not a big fan of him.

Great article finally positive. Some of the things mentioned in there besides the Buffs 4 life are I think what got JE this job.

I agree. I knew more about EB than Embree during all the hub-bub about a new coach. Neither fellow had the requisite credentials that the big honchos require, head coaching experience/success, or at least a coordinator position, again success. So picking between them seemed to me to be a toss-up with EB being the least desirable because his past is not the most admirable. This article tells me why he was selected. And I am elated with the pick. This guy looks like he will bring honor to the program. If he succeeds so much the better. The glory will be magnified. And from what everyone says both of them will be great as recruiters. Go Buffs!

Decent read by Henderson. Yesterday, Jizla was badmouthing the JE hire and also said that EB would have been a better choice for HC and the Buffs had no shot at landing EB as the OC. When Jizla writes anything, it usually has no credibility and I'll bet he's eating crow now

Unfortunately when "pundits" either political or sports make predictions and they don't pan out, there really isn't a price to pay. Most folks forgot about the prediction. We need a cyberspace service that tracks predictions and rates folks on their accuracy. You would think most would just be reluctant to make strong predictions if they really know what they are talking about.

KalBuff - I think Snow's comments pretty well sum up most AB folks dislike with hendo. It's not that he's a hack in a position to state an opinion -- comes with the job, imo -- it's that his articles are mostly negative towards CU. This isn't an overnight hatred......it's built up over time.

That and he wore red to the hate week press conference this year. It was either insensitive or intentional. Either way, he's a tool.

Man there are enough tools out there. I will take your collective words for his toolness. But I still don't think it is worth getting too lathered up over.

He also put all of our players who have been arrested mug shots on the front page on the sports section. Also he writes many stories praising the nubs. You would think he worked for the Omaha paper.

He loves Oregon. LOVES THEM. He is an OU alum. So expect it to get worse

Whats even more annoying is that since Denver is a one newspaper town, the sports talk stations tend to have Henderson on as a "college football expert" to discuss anything happening in Boulder. It's too bad Chris Dempsey covers only basketball.

Eventually the guys head is going to explode.

That's right.

Henderson also wrote an article in the DP on a recap of the "scandal" right before National Signing Day a couple years ago. This was timed very suspiciously considering that we were in a battle with Oregon for the signature of WR Diante Jackson and the Buffs were in the lead. Jackson switched his commitment at the last minute amidst reports that his grandmother & mother thought that Oregon was a better environment for him.

Unfortunately for Jackson, he never has had things work out at Oregon. He redshirted in 2009, was ineligible in 2010, and it is reported that he will also be ineligible in 2011 so he is likely to transfer to a JUCO and get things in order. Maybe the Buffs will get back on him after next season with 2 years to play 2.

Anyway, Henderson ****ed CU and contributed to screwing up that kid's life in order to support his Ducks.

My Oregon cousins are still laughing at us for this

I don't know that I see the inuendo in this article, but I have no doubt Henderson will espouse all things ducky in the near future. He is akin to Kizla. A dbag.

"Yet Embree chose the Big Eight's ugly duckling, becoming part of McCartney's first wave of in-state talent that turned the program around."

This is what Embree himself is going to need to do. There is so much talent in this state that escapes it EVERY year because CUs coaches refuse to acknowledge how much talent there is in this state. If CU loses out on Ameen-Moore from Mullen that would be CRIMINAL.

:wtf:

Why would that be criminal?
