Just Watched the Presser

I know that there are other threads about your thoughts after seeing the presser, but **** ya! Love Embo and what he had to say. He is passionate and ready for the task ahead. I am fairly certain today we are starting a new chapter in CU Football that will see this program rise back up and be compeitive with whoever we play on the field. It may take him a couple of years to get the players he needs to win at the highest levels, but I can tell you he is going to be a winner. Consider me sold!

Go Buffs!

No mention of Mac by the pres, chancellor or Bohn. Not by accident I suspect.

My guess is that Mac did not do himself any favors over the last week. We will see how that plays out but Embo was impressive. The passion, talking about being physical on both sides of the ball, hitting you till you do not want to be hit again, getting the swagger back, being judged by wins on the field....all of it was refreshing and set the tone for where this program will go. Embo was spot on and looked every bit the leader I think he will be.

Yeah, but you know what? This day is all about Embo, no one else. Even if Mac hadn't done what he did last week, Bohn et al, shouldn't have brought up Mac. This is Jon's moment, the way it should be.

And Mac was there. You could hear him in everything Embo said during the presser.

Yes, You could hear Coach Mac in Embree's words. I get a laugh out of the criticism Mac is getting from some quarters. I don't mind his involvement in any way. In fact, he is somewhat responsible for what everyone is seeing and hearing today. I don't care what he said to who, when and where. I have no doubt he played the administrators all along. This might not have happened without him. Everyone should be thanking him.

I would not be a bit surprised if Mac saved the admins. from themselves. I have this sneaking hunch they were cozying up to McElwain or somebody else. Mac is a leader and the admins. got worked by a guy who isn't afraid and doesn't have to do a focus group before he takes a whiz. Bravo Mac.

Thats my theory as well. Mac painted 'em into a corner they couldn't get out of.

All maybe true and if so, it worked out well. We ended up with a guy who is going to be lights out. As it should be, today is Jon's day and a great day for the Buffs moving forward.

I am pleased. I would feel better with a proven BCS HC, but Embo and EB are a pretty remarkable pair, and I think CU FB is about to launch into new successes. Mac took a bullet for the program and two of his guys. He will be viewed as meddler, but in the end, he still is the leader of this program and I couldn't care less if he stepped on Bohn and Co.'s toes to get the job done. The one thing that scared the poo out of me when DH was fired was the prospect of MB whiffing again....

Cabral says he'll be back, too.

I'm glad to hear this! I like BC. Looks like we have the start of a great staff. Looking forward to watching the presser this evening, assuming it will be available on the CUBUFFS website...

Very pleased with how the new staff is looking.:smile2:

Go Buffs!

After watching the presser, I feel like the administration was probably right. Embo appears more ready for the HC job than EB. EB will be a head coach somewhere in the next few years, and we'll miss him when he leaves. But, at this moment, I think Embo was the right choice. Of course, its all honeymoon period now. A loss to Hawaii in the season opener and we'll all be a bunch of chicken littles.

well good thing we dont play hawaii in the season opener

Accountability, bringing the swagger back to CU, measured by wins and losses. What's not to like? :woot:

well i look like an idiot. Have we ever played CSU in week 3?
2001 we played them week 2 after the heartbreaker against Fresno State if I remember correctly which is a long shot. I drank a lot back then, wait... I still drink a lot.

Yep. That was the "redemption" game - we kicked the ever-living **** out of them if I remember right.

Not that I could find after reviewing the last twenty years or so. We've played them a lot in week 2, most recently in 2006, which is a year I vote we all just agree to never mention again.

You remember right, we ran the ball down their f#cking throats! Bobby Purify had almost 200 yards and Chris Brown was well over 100! 40-something to 14. I'd look it up, but I'm lazy.

I'm still questionable on the hire but I'll say this, he wasn't screwing around and It was effing great to hear him speak on what he expects, the tradition and his passion. He looks like a no bs guy and my favorite part..."No excuses", you do or you don't.

I just got a chance to watch, and WOW - this guy shows a focus and a passion that is undeniable.

His willingness to get all the reporters names is a good sign. He didn't shy away from any questions. He was well-spoken and direct. He was passionate, and he has a vision. If he can get the X's and O's, we will be just fine.

No ****? Ya don't say?

Yep. My two cents are pretty much the same as everybody else. If you haven't watched the video, do it now. This guy is no nonsense and I can see his presence being effective in the locker room immediately. I know I wouldn't want to get on his bad side.
