CFN Early Heisman Canadiates

we'll need to put a dent in #17's chances next year.....and, Pete Fiutek, could, like, really learn, to use commas, better.

Hawk said he wanted to recruit CU's next Heisman winner, what if he was right...Yikes.

Some people really like to dog speedy around here, they said he would never last as an every down back. Well, he was basically our every down back and rushed for 1300+ and could get the cu record next year coached by the holder of it. Speedy is good, I don't think he is heisman good, but he is a damn fine back! I would like to see what he can do with a little EB coaching.

I agree. For Speedy to be Heisman good, he needs to add to his top end speed. Many of his runs involve crazy moves that are highlight worthy, but he ends up getting tackled for 8-15 yard gains. If those runs were to turn into 50+ yard TDs, that's what it would take to be Heisman good. However, Speedy sure has done the job of getting tough yards when asked, so definitely don't take this post as me complaining in any way about Speedy.

For Speedy to take the next step, he needs to continue to work on his pass catching (huge jump in 2010 over 2009) and become a more decisive runner. I'd like to see him match his 2010 yardage totals in 2011 on about 20% fewer carries.

Speedy drives me nuts. He needs one yard, and they put a fullback in for him, and he goes in the opposite direction from where the fullback was going. :wtf: Dude needs to set up his blocks better. He could be a much better back if he did that.

To be fair, speedy also drives opposing coaches nuts, cause for every time he doesn't follow his blockers and gets nothing, he changes direction randomly, beats 3 guys in the backfield, and busts a 15 yard gain.

True true. Don't forget the 10-15 yard runs are usually on speedy sized holes too (D-Scott couldn't get through them). Speedy is a very tough runner and breaks alot, and i mean alot, of freakin tackles. If speedy can get some bigger holes no doubt he could win the heisman.

Why the Fuck are we talking about next years heisman anyway. Lets finish this season first damn.

If our center gets healthy Speedy could be running behind 4 offensive starters back on the o-line plus Bryce Givens will have another year under his belt and for some reason I think he will be hungary to finding a starting position.

Sadly, in order for Speedy to have any shot next year, we will have to win a lot of games. Gotta be at least 9-3 if not better for him to have any real shot.

Anything drives you nuts.

Speedy has things he can work on, but he isn't about to break the all time rushing mark at CU for no reason.

He's about to break the all time rushing mark because he's a four year starter. Name me one other four year starter at running back at CU.

I'm convinced that was part of the Hawk genius (sarcasm font). If you watch there was no hesitation at all, FB went one way and TB went opposite.

I'd like to see him double his 2010 yardage totals in 2011 on about 20% fewer carries.

AP was a ****ing beast in college well before EB got his hands on him.

He was, but you could see in EB's coaching vids how much he focuses on detail and footwork, which is huge for the RB position. Also, he has the respect from AP.

Speedy needs footwork help.

That's for sure, he tackled himself a couple of times on runs. If he get's those "little things" down, he will blow up and EB will fix those "little things" with Speedy. He will "pop" this season.

Sorry couldn't resist.

This is what I was trying to say but you did a much better job of it than I did. From watching that video, I feel like EB could sit down and watch film with speedy and show him dozens of places where he could have gotten way more yards if he did just one thing different. At the beginning of that video, EB tells AP that they left at least 2000 yards on the field last season. I think EB could find at least that much for speedy and help him break the record next year.
