Was considered "Most Under-rated" at Elite 11 camp this summer

ESPN article

Most Underrated: Adam Pittser (Richmond-Burton; Richmond, Ill.)
Did you expect anyone else? The only guy who entered the camp with exactly zero BCS schools drooling over him is sure to have a big-time offer come his way after proving his mettle this week. He was consistent, poised and constantly raved about by the counselors.

and he was #2 on the MVP List.

Most Likely to Play Early: Adam Pittser
Pittser was the story of the week and one of the great success stories in the history of the Elite 11. Very few of the players in the camp had even heard of Pittser prior to the event and by the end of the event, many felt he was the top signal caller in the camp behind only Driskel.

Pittser was a late 12th addition to the Elite 11 Quarterback camp.

On Monday, he was the 12th man. By Tuesday, he was THE man.

Adam Pittser of Richmond, Ill., is the surprise story so far this week at the Elite 11 quarterback competition, a four-day football camp that showcases 11 hot quarterback prospects - plus one lesser-known prospect - from around the country. The camp kicked off Monday at Soka University.

Pittser was that lesser-known prospect, selected as the 12th man to the camp, but his strong arm and pinpoint accuracy could snatch camp MVP honors from highly-regarded Florida commit Jeff Driskel.

Others in attendance:

Archie Bradley
Jeff Driskel
Cody Kessler
Teddy Bridgewater
Evan Crower
Philip Ely
Kiehl Frazier
Everett Golson
DeMarcus Smith
Kendal Thompson
J.W. Walsh

Driskel was the MVP of the Elite 11 QB Camp. But guess who the MVP Runner-up was? Pittser.

Here's what Rivals had to say about it:

Adam Pittser, from Richmond (Ill.) Burton, has offers from Ball State, Central Michigan, Western Michigan and Illinois State but things could pick up dramatically after his Elite 11 performance.

Pittser, a 6-foot-1, 200-pound prospect, runs a wing-T offense in high school so he doesn't have big stats or an overly impressive highlight film but after his showing here things could take off. He finished second in the MVP running to Driskel and was one of the more polished quarterbacks all week.

"You have a wing-T kid with three 1,000-yard rushers on his team and I played the wing-T in high school so I feel his pain where sometimes you throw eight times a game and that's on third down and you run the waggle," James said.

"For a kid who throws the ball maybe 60 times a year to come out here in shorts and a t-shirt and to come to some of these events, that's what's so great about the Elite 11, you see kids from all over. You're going to know your five-star kids, you're going to know your four-star kids. To find a kid like Adam, who no one knew about, that's special."

I was looking forward to this going up. I really like this kid. Bit of a question how he will adapt to a pro style offense tho, I believe he runs a run heavy attack in HS. Which is why he was such a surprise throwing the ball at the Elite 11 camp. his vids look damn good tho.

Wing T offense and comes from a tiny little town of 800 people.

He also smoked the competition at the Under Armour QB Camp this summer:

No matter what, prospects fall through the cracks every year for a number of reasons.

Some might be from a school that's off the beaten path. Some may not have enough game film. The latter is the case for quarterback Adam Pittser (Richmond, Ill./Richmond Burton).

This past Saturday, in Chicago at the Under Armour combine, Pittser blew away the competition and the Under Armour coaching staff with his performance.

"I have a quote for you," Under Armour quarterbacks coach Gene Dahlquist said. "If Adam Pittser isn't a major [FBS] quarterback, than I don't know what I've been doing in this business."

Now I know what I want for xmas. that and 3 CBs, at least one of which can start.

Another quote from the Under Armour combine:

"I called my contacts at Texas and told them that they needed to take a look at this young man," Dahlquist said. "There's no doubt in my mind that [Pittser] could play at Texas or any other major FBS program."

(Dahlquist has more than 30 years of coaching experience, including a five-year run with Texas as offensive coordinator from 1992 to 1997.)

Why do I get the "grasping at straws" feeling every time a new QB prospect... that doesn't even have CU as a possible... is added to the board?

Sorry, the last 5 years keeps creeping into my head.

The same reason I am trying desperately not to think about the last Elite 11 QB we signed...

He had the best footwork of the QB's on that rivals yahoo video - look at his feet vs Andy Dalton for example. Much faster and precise than Dalton

These camps all occurred last summer so the word was out, yet his offer list is still what it is. Curious given the accolades. The last thing mentioned on the yahoo.rivals tape at the 4:14 mark was he could do everything that QB guru Coach Johnson asked of him. Johnson is Nick Hirschman's QB guru.

Good point on the Johnson connection.

Regarding the lack of offers, I mentioned this in chat tonight and it's worth repeating: recruiting services fall in love with camp performance but coaches offer based on game film. We're talking about a kid who has no film compiled and only threw about 60 passes all season in the offense his school runs. Plus, it's a low level of competition because he plays for such a small school.

This is exactly the type of kid who could be a top prospect who went almost completely under the BCS radar.

Nik, do you know if JE put his eye on this guy or not? I checked the available qb list and this guy is the only possible one we can get with same, if not better, level with BB

But those types of accolades usually merit at least one coach getting out to a game from Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Purdue, Wisconsin, Northwestern, etc. Richmond IL is 1 hours drive from Milwaukee airport.

Could be a gem, and we need one. Maybe a coach from several of those schools want him but don't want to let the cat out of the bag and won't offer until January 28th or so, knowing he'd jump on a BCS offer?

For some reason, that does not surprise me...I can't believe none of the other sickos on this board have razzed you about that. That will certainly end up as someone's quote.

Saw it before I had my coffee, and it bothered me. Something was wrong, in a funny way. Now I know why. Thanks for pointing it out. Sicko.

I've been waiting for months for someone to make this joke in Awini's profile thread. I even wrote some stuff to set it up. Nothing. I have been very disappointed in this board.

happy to oblige, oh ye demented and perverted of mind and soul....

my original opinion stands......as for qb recruits, I'd rather have Awini

go 'head, I triple dog dare ya !

Looks like he has the tools to be a good player, but probably needs a lot of work coming from that system. Hopefully we get him since we need a QB this cycle.
