Pitt fires its coach after two weeks

Because all he's done is been charged and he just got hired to a new school.

Put yourself in the schools shoes. I'm not sure they had a choice. There must be something to it. It was originally a misdemeanor upgraded to a felony. Maybe he is in a tough spot arguing with some crazy ex or whatever but he can't get himself in that situation.

I'm not saying anything about the school.

Being so close to the Heinz Ketchup HQ, Pitt is easily on of the top 25 programs in the nation for a coach. While Pitt didn't relish firing the coach, they can't condiment domestic abuse and had the mustard to fire the hot dog.

I'm not sayin they shouldn't have fired the coach but until I know more details about what happened I'm not making any judgement on him.

Chicks must love you. "Women beating is ok, as long as they can't prosecute". Nice. They didn't fire him because of hearsay.

The dude might have had just cause for slapping and choking the beyotch, right?

Not saying that so quit trying to infer that I did Ralph. I'm not condoning hitting woman but I am saying that I don't know what happened and I'm not going to judge someone without knowing what actually happened. If he did do it, then it's deserved but their are a lot of accusations that are made that turn out to be false.

Head coaches of major college football programs should never put themselves in that position in the first place. Guy was justifiably fired, even if they are just accusations at this point.

Well, Dan McCarney got a job. vOv. No worries because 1. domestic abuse is hilarious 2. it's always the victim's fault.

Totally agree. Who knows what's going on in terms of the child between him and the mother but you can't have arguments whether its verbal or physical as a head coach of a major college football team with the mother of your child. Coaches always talk about players playing with poise out on the field. Exactly where was Haywood's poise in this situation? Guilty or not, the guy put himself in a bad situation and is now fired.

omg1!!! rep

I feel sorry for him because we don't know what happened here. He was charged, he wasn't convicted.

I specifically feel bad for him because he is quoted as saying "It isn't fair. The truth will eventually come out."

Now it could turn out that for him the truth is that she hit him first and he had to hit her back, then I woudn't feel bad. But what if she is some crazy baby momma that harmed herself purposefully to mess with him? It's SPECIFICALLY un-american to convict someone prior to their trial. The thought process of innocent until proven guilty is a revolutionary one.

As far as the future for Pitt, I think George O'Leary would be a SLAM DUNK hire. UCF is a bit of a player, but an AQ conference team has to look more promising to O'Leary, especially as going undefeated every year at Pitt isn't out of the question - especially with WVU on the decline.

Thanks JD.

She's the single mom of a kid whose dad just locked up a job at $700 or 800k a year, dealing with the emotions of the holidays. No one knows how stable she is, or whether she has drug/alcohol issues. Any experienced cop will tell you women are just as dangerous in domestic situations as men are. Most states, like Colorado, now have laws, that if there is any evidence of an assault (self-defense issues are raised later) someone must be jailed.

So, having heard one side of the story, Pitt (and most here) immediately turns it back on the guy. Great lesson for the students. I hope it turns out this was self-defense and he sues Pitt for a ton. Pitt is taking the media high-road and abandoning ethics and values

Go Buffs!

I feel bad for the kid who has to endure a couple of volitile parents.
