UT's offense to become what CU's was?

Wouldn't normally say anything but this caught my attention yesterday. Chip Brown and the UT flunkies are of course slobbering all over themselves and Mack Brown's wank due to the announcement of Bryan Harsin, former OC at Boise State, as co-OC with Major Applewhite.

But they're really pumping a quote from Applewhite which struck me funny. (paraphrased)
"To give you an idea what you'll see here, I'll reference the Wyoming game. We both played Wyoming, but we only used 6 formations against them. But when Boise St. played them, they had 26 different formations, with specific player packages designed to put the players who knew the plays best on the field to give them the best chance to succeed and keep the defense guessing."

Umm, hey UT, that's exactly what the CU offense was under Hawkins (a BSU flunkie.) In fact, his player grouping were so "awesome" that even fans in the stands could guess what play we would run based solely on what players were going on/off the field. If fans can figure out what a offense is about to run, how about a BCS DC?

Probably give UT the benefit of the doubt here that they obviously have the more talented people to run the plays and succeed, but based on that comment, it will be interesting to see what happenes to the Whorns next year.

tu's offense the past decade = success w/ VY and Colt. = fail w/ anyone else. Mack is not much for coaching up talent. More just hoping he hit on his recruits.

I would love to see an epic failure here but like you mentioned, I think that UT has so many good athletes that they might be able to pull it off during the regular season......BUT, just like we saw last night, give a good defense 40 days to watch film and they will know all the different packages and will be able to stop them.

Applewhite's quote is great on so many different levels. First UT should not have needed 6 different formations to beat WY. They should have been able to do it with 2. That is what you do when you have far superior athletes. You put your best 11 on the field and have them make plays. Saying Boise used 26 different formations to beat WY does not impress me at all.

UT fan will blow a gasket as soon as the constant delay of game, motion, and too many on field penalties start racking up like we got to witness with the Dan Hawkins player grouping fiasco.

Think that 40 day lay off also didn´t help offenses stay sharp and it´s usually always easier to react than to act, especially when the offenses seem a little rusty.

Whorn groupings? I suppose it is possible somebody from Boise knows what they are doing, the deadwood they floated Boulder didn't. Plus the UT QB is taller than wispy, so maybe it can work...

Its a head scratcher to wonder how a team with so much talent could play so poorly. I think it was a bit of bad coaching and a bit of a bunch of guys that were leaderless. If Mac doesn't get it done again and soon he's gonna go bye bye
