2011 Spring Game to be a NIGHT game on April 9th

Spring Game - Embree just said it will be at night

He was just on CJ & Klatt.

Spring Game will be a night game this year. This is going to be cool as hell.

6 p.m. kick off

It would be really cool if they had a fireworks show at the end.

Embree also said he expects the new QB coach to be hired in 2 days

Sounds like they're really trying to make an event out of the Junior day. Hope it will result in some early commits!

I actually don't like this. nothing better than a nice spring day with the sun on your face watching football. Now I gotta bundle up and hope it isn't too cold in early April.

It's been years since I was in Boulder for a Spring game, but I know that some schools have had their Spring games televised in recent years. Moving the game to the evening could represent an opportunity for television exposure if the attendance would be up to par. Just a thought.

gah spring games always interfere with fishing and turkey hunting.

Early April at night could be vert cold! This will be interesting!

It really shouldn't be that cold. The weather could be dicey, though. It could rain. It could snow. We could have 100 mph wind. April is the worst month, weather wise, in Colorado, IMO. 75 and sunny one day and 40 with snow the next.

April is our second snowiest month. The odds (especially in early April) of cold temps and heavy wet snow are good. I know guys like you and me could handle it, but as for attracting a large crowd from the casual fans? hmmmm

Thanks Ed Green

Bunch of negative nancy sissies, IYAM.

I'll be there, dressed appropriately for the weather, which I expect to be wonderful spring temps in Boulder. Sheez, worrying about weather this far in advance instead of saying "damn! Only 72 days until I get a fix of CU football. Boooyah!"

Avg. temps in Boulder by month
Avg high on April 9, approx 65 degrees.
The most precipitation on average occurs in May.

Got to remember that this has turned into our only Junior Day for recruiting. Embree is trying to make it as much of an event as possible. The atmosphere of seeing Folsom at dusk-to-sunset-to-night under the lights is hard to beat. Plus, this gives them all day to tour campus, sit through meetings and get as much of an official visit feel as possible. It also makes it easier for people a bit farther away (Springs, Western Slope, etc.) to drive in for the game.

I like this a lot.

I might have to miss the Spring Game now - much harder to bring the young one when its not a day game

I can tell you what my dad did when I was five years old and attended a night event at Folsom. He gave me a book of matches to play with. Endless entertainment and educational too. Very educational.
