Kansas state, preseason #1, postseason..... wow

Have fun in the NIT (If you make it) without Pullen

lotta fluidity in the middle. i'd say big gap between ATM's 4-2 and Baylor's 4-3. all of a sudden, Tech and OU are 6-1 in their last 7 games combined. they both are still mediocre teams (and neither win more than 5 or 6, max)....but puts ATM's winless season under Melvin Watkins is some perspective. ouch.

Ok State at 2-5 is a bit of a surprise to me, i thought they'd be a bubble type team and GIA is usually good to them in conference.

Gotta like CU being in the top half of the conference standing halfway through the conference slate. Keep it up Buffs

Back up to 6th in the conference. Big to stay there or higher to get a good first round tourney matchup and avoid UT or KU in a possible second round game...

Bingo. I was talking to a friend of mine last night and he pointed out that if we go 8-8 in conference, we HAVE to win 2 games. Anything lower than the 6 seed makes that damn near impossible thanks to the fact that both Kansas and Texas are going to be #1 seeds in the NCAA Tourney.

Looking at who is playing who, and our record, we arent looking too bad at a 4th or 5th place finish.

UT - Lock for top, finish 16-0
KU - Also not going anywhere, finish 15-0
TAM - Relative easy finish, ISU, @OSU, OU, @BAY, @KU, TT (4-2), finish 10-6
BAY - Difficult finish, TT, @MIZZ, TAM, @OSU, UT (1-4), finish 7-9
Mizz - Relative easy finish, TT, @ISU, BAY, @KSU, @NEB, KU (5-1), finish 10-6
CU - @KU, @TT, UT, @ISU, NU (3-2), finish 8-8
OSU - Hard road @UT, TAM, @KU, TT, BU, @OU (2-4), finish 6-10
NU - @OU, UT, KSU, @ISU, MIZZ, @CU (2-4), finish 6-10
KSU - Hard road, KU, OU, @NEB, MIZZ, @UT, ISU (2-4), finish 6-10
OU - NU, @KSU, @TAM, KU, @TT, OSU (2-4), finish 6-10
TT, ISU - Who cares

I know i screwed up a lot of the close match ups, but if you look at it, below is how I think the final rankings will be

1.UT
2.KU
3.TAM
4.MIZZ
5.CU
6. BAY
7.OSU, NU, KSU, OU
11. TT
12. ISU

So with CU finishing strong, ie. not losing games they should win, i predict a #5 finish, putting them right on the bubble, but unless they do something in the tournament, I dont see them making it.

Our best case scenario is to get the 5th seed in the Big 12 tourney and have Texas A&M as the #4 seed and our 2nd round matchup (after we hypothetically beat Iowa State).

The #5 seed would be perfect. If we can somehow manage to pull that off, we'd be in great shape.

I want another shot at them. That game kills me.

I know I am getting ahead of my self here, but that would be a pretty sweet matchup. I think we would be pretty pumped to play A&M again. With 2 wins, we would likely be looking at UT in the Saturday game. I think we match up with UT better than KU, but who knows, they are both really good teams. So yea, I would like a 5th place finish, and a rematch with A&M.

God, seeing the standings really emphasizes how much of an opportunity these guys let slip through their fingers against Baylor and A&M. We win those 2 games, we're a solid #3 in the conference. Going forward though, We need to beat at least ISU, NU, and TTU and get into the B12 tourney with a little confidence.

That would be true of our whole season, San Fran, Harvard, Baylor, A&M, not to mention Nebraska and Oklahoma

Man if we beat KU and A&M, we would be #3 in the Big 12.

If we beat just A&M we would likely finish in 3rd due to tie breakers. (that is assuming no big upsets this week)

If we beat just KU in boulder, we would likely finish 4th.

we need to win the tonight. I am pretty nervous since I am not used to being a winning basketball program. We need to get our **** together before we hit the PAC:12

the team that won the head to head.

ATM won in College Station. One of the reasons why i won't miss the divisional setup in the Big XII. tiebreaker is supposed to break a tie, not reward a team for winning on its home court...which is what this means in the home rotations of North-South only playing once.

thanx for giving me more info than tante did. You're right, in this instance (if it happens) atm gets the upper hand more from the conference schedule than for their play.

is google broken on your computer? You could have easily looked up who won the head to head game between the two.

Yeah, I prolly deserved that one tante. When I first read your post I thot you were being snide. Sometimes when I'm at work, I'll post a q here instead of taking the extra time to do some research.

My first question is kinda moot -- I thought we could pass atm if everything played out right. After looking at the standings again, I realized we can only tie them, and they own the breaker.

Lucky for us, we wont have to face that loaded ISU team in the first round of the Big 12 tourney. That team is STACKED!
