Berglund...Hmmmm.

Probably cant handle being away from his girlfriend. I have heard he is weird about that

Step 1: Enroll early.
Step 2: Go to no practices, go to no classes.
Step 3: During all this free time, you do ???
Step 4: Go back home, start over.
Step 5: Sit on bench for a while.

What would a troublemaking 18yo do with nothing but free time whilst in a college town? Those three question marks probably hold a damn good story.

Clearly Berglund thinks the world revolves around him...don't need that kind of attitude at CU.

can somebody please summarize the article? i have a strict personal policy about not clicking any links associated with the denver post.

thanks in advance...

Sure....Berglund realized Jon did not want him in Boulder, so he went to Kansas, enrolling early. He has been in Lawrence for two months, and things apparently have not gone well, so he is moving back to Denver. The spin in the Post (reported by the Gayhawks) is that he will return, but some are speculating he will not (perhaps he did not like hearing "Dust in the Wind" every five minutes). Clear? Any questions?

And since the song is about five minutes in length...well, you get the idea.

Am sorry can't help my self

Muhahahahahahahhahahahahaha

Maybe he will become a Goat up at Ft. Fun...he could be the kind of QB they haven't had since Cutlip.

I'd run away from KU too. That football program is in deep **** and won't succeed regardless of how good Berglund could possibly be if he doesn't run away for good. The '07 season is their best ever and they couldn't even win the North. At this point the talent is long gone from Lawrence and Gill isn't going to bring it in. It's a Hawk situation in Lawrence - it was apparent he was the wrong guy since the 6-3 North Dakota State loss. I do thank TG for speeding up the process of getting Hawkins out of here. In the end he's just another agent planted at a rival school by the Huskers. I'm so psyched for the Pac12, but damn there are some Big12 programs that I hope we get a shot at in bowl games or perhaps an OOC game or two here for old times sake in a few years when the Buffs are back and enjoying a new identity in the Pac12.

Two words.... pussy whipped.

Funny this comes out now. I boarded a flight last year (summer?) before BB committed, on the way to SLC. I picked out a seat about 8 rows deep on my Southwest flight. Near the end of boarding here comes BB. With his girlfriend.... He has this super cocky attitude and is laying it on a flight attendant that they need to sit together. I'm extremely "impressed" by his behavior observing this guy and instantly tell myself - man I hope we don't get this guy.

He tells the guy in front of me that he is attending some football camp at the U.

First of all, who brings their girlfriend to an out of state football camp for High School kids? Who lets him do that?
That's just bad form. Yeah sure, a lot of kids would like to, but you just don't.

I assumed she was just his girl friend accompanying him to his football camp.... I was stunned.

Did she go on his recruiting trips with him too?

So now I learn she was a D1 soccer recruit? Did they plan this trip together to visit Utah? Still bad form, especially as representatives of Valor Christian. It's ok to plan to go to the same school, but don't visit at the same time. Be a man for a weekend.

Would be interesting to know whether she was a legit recruit or did KU sign her to get Brock? Did she have other offers? Did she get one from CU?

I saw BB with a young woman at several out of state CU games last year - apparently without parents. Just thinking back to my kids in high school and how it would have never occurred to us to let them travel unaccompanied during the school year or at that age. They took a few road trips with other male friends, but never flew anywhere and stayed in a hotel just for kicks. But that's just us, and our family expectations -- and budget.

Maybe my kids were overly sheltered and BB's parents felt he was developing responsibility or maturity by traveling alone, but if my kids or their girlfriends had suggested such a trip, it would have been soundly shot down by all parents involved - including the GF's.

I like your posts, so I trust your story as true. Even if you're blowing smoke though, I didn't want BB after his constant public announcements. He was not that great of a player, but he with his announcements, he acted like he was a top 100 player. He wasn't even top two in the state of CO. You didn't see Austin or Willingham announcing **** all the time...he needed to know his place. I know it's a little nit-picky to read his announcements as cockiness, but I don't know how else to read it. I know others agree too. I think he's a good player, but I'm perfectly fine not having him. The kid just seems like he needs some humility and growing up to do. Hope he gets it wherever he goes.

hmm, what is he, 18 years old? let the kid grow up, i don't see why you all have to pounce on him. real big of you to call some kid out on the interwebs for being "pussy whipped." And then going below the belt and calling him Brock VanBergland? I don't care who de-commits to us, no one deserves that.

This thread looks just like one that fusker fans would be in after one of their recruits decided to go somewhere else instead of the hallowed grounds of stinkoln. keep on spinnin' guys!

Brock could do worse than QB for the Rams, fuel the instate rivalry, and spend time in the NFL as a backup QB.

Lighten up.

So by the content of this thread combined with another big issue of the week I'm assuming that he didn't get a lot of recruiting interest from BYU.

On a serious note I am also glad, seeing what has happened since the fall, that he didn't end up a Buff. As talented as a lot of the individuals were when Mac had his great teams including guys who were very high NFL draft choices, it seemed like when it came to football and the team lots of those guys were much more about the "us" than they were about the "me." Both Embree and Bienemy were prime examples of that way of thinking.

I hope for his sake that Brock doesn't follow in these footsteps but I am seeing another Steve Cutlip in the making. Cutlip was tremendously talented but let his talent define who he was instead of earning it. When things didn't fall into place he lost his way and wasted his talent and opportunity. I'm not say that Berglund is going down this same path but he has already taken some steps that make you wonder if it is a posibility.
