Was glancing at a couple publications in the grocery store, nice to see 3 buffs being mentioned among the best at their positions. Got to thinking, man after this draft you would think the buffs woul dhave had a lot better season in 2010.:lol:

Most had Solder going mid 1st round, Smith going 1st or 2nd and Brown going 3rd or 4th.

Forgot to look at the WR's. Whats the word on Scotty? late draft pick or FA? I would think he would make a great slot WR like Wes Welker. Maybe the J-E-T-S will get him

scotty will get a workout, but i don't he has what it takes to make a wr in the nfl.

Why not out of curiosity?He's a hard worker, runs good routes and catches anything thrown to him. Sure he's short, but so is Wes Welker. I could see Sanchez and Scotty hooking up a lot.
 
plus welker gets YAC like crazy, scotty couldn't do that in college. i wish he had a better chance making a team but i just don't see it.

I guess I never realized that he was fast. I also don't watch a lot of the NFL.

Still Welker is a tiny little wart.

Still nice to see that we will be represented well in the draft with 3 for sure draftees and possibly all 3 first day guys!:thumbsup:

Thought the NFL had gone to a three-day format where the first round is day 1, rounds 2-3 are day 2, and the remaining rounds come on day 3. Even so, your point is well taken that it is good to see these guys doing well and to have more Buffs represented in the league.
 
Scotty and Wes Walker are similar height and both catch everything. The comparison ends there. Welker was one of the best return men in the Big12....Ever. He burned CU badly during his time at TT. The guy is very fast, very elusive, and pretty stout as well. And he is completely fearless.
 
Scotty Mcknight sadly will be an UFA. He is slow, not elusive after the catch, and he doesn't the size. I know he has been working out, hopefully he can get stronger and faster. His only chance is to catch on with a team as a special teams player.
 
Just curious, How slow is he(Scotty)? 40 time? By the way everyone is talking i'm going to guess about 4.7 range. Maybe a little faster.

I would think he's probably a 4.7 at best, probably more of a 4.8. That doesn't really matter though, for him short area quickness is much more important. The comparison to Welker is bad imo because Welker is seriously all kinds of fast and agile. Davone Bess might be a better comparison, as I recall his 40 time was pretty terrible at the combine, but he has good short area quickness.
 
CU's pro day is on the 9th. I guess we'll find out Wednesday just how fast Scotty is.
 
I don't want to knock McKnight but I think he's been given his due as a pro prospect by CBS, which has him at #510 overall and #61 at WR. That's about a high as could be expected for a smallish (5-11''), somewhat slow WR (4.72 - 40 coming out of H.S.). [NOTE: I see now that CBS has estimated him at 4.5]

An OVR of #510, or higher, depending on his pro day performance, is decent for pro prospect who projects as a slot WR. He'll have a fair chance to make a team as a CFA and that's about all that could be expected given his metrics. I view McKnight more through the lens of an NFL team and I find it difficult to get excited enough about a prospect like McKnight to warrant using a draft pick on him.

For the right team however, he could contribute at the slot position, provided he's a willing STs performer. There's no stigma to going the CFA route. There will be a few teams with weaknesses at WR are looking for a #3 WR plus added roster members (often derogatorily called roster filler), but being a CFA would allow him to pick a situation where he has the best chance of making the roster. I wouldn't frame his situation in the negative since he's in a fairly good position to make a team.
 
Kiper now projects Solder to go to the Bears towards the end of the 1st. Ouch

There had been some outlandish talk that Solder could be a Top 5 or Top 10 guy. I call it outlandish because the word has been that this class is not as strong at OT, so there probably was not a Top 10 OT to be taken. However, relative to those expectations, a late first round selection could be seen as a let down. The other question, that I do not have the answer to, is whether or not other OTs are now projected ahead of Nate. At one point, he was Mel's top tackle.

Hey, I'm just happy to see that we have 3 for sure drafts and possibly 4. It's been a while!

Welker's 4.55 if it was electronically timed is pretty fast.

I hope Scotty gets drafted, but I really doubt he will. As I have said before, after one of the games I was walking down Pearl with the family looking for a place to eat. I nearly ran over SM becuase I wasn't watching where I was going, standing right next to him I was surprised, he isn't really even 5'11" IMO.
