Defensive line is not looking so bad

Sounds like something has flipped on for Obi (finally). If he can continue that strong play and Bonsu can stay healthy, I think we will have a legit top four inside for the first time in a while.

Defensive end does not necessarily look so bad either with West, Hartigan, Kasa, and Uzo-Diribe. But we need Kasa to really step up this year and Uzo-Diribe to take another step forward.

If these guys can come together, it would take some pressure off a suspect secondary and thin LB corps.

We saw what they could be capable of in a short time with Cabral at the helm. Now a full offseason with Embree, this has to be the strength of our defense to be successful this year.

obi is apparently a starter now. That is GREAT news for us. and him. Hope he goes out with a bang.

I have been waiting for Obi to step up since he set foot on campus. I'm thrilled to hear he's finally getting it together. We really need that depth and playmaking ability.

Uzo-Diribe is back practicing this week after being out w/ surgery.

I think this guy is our next sack monster. I like the DLine alot too, just hoping we can avoid injuries here (and everywhere).

who was the last real "sack monster" (TG mom joke aside).

I think ob may have been a victim of not being one of hawkins "good guys" and poor technique coaching by bandison... hopefully with some decent dline coaching these guys can take off

Obi earned this. He is working his butt off and making plays. He has vowed to make all-conference this year.

If every thing goes according to plans we should have 8 guys along the DL that we can rotate in and out. We also have pass rushing specialist like Hartigan that can come in on 3rd downs.

Add in Juda Parker. He should add some help on the DL as well. Good for Obi... but sad to see nothing become of Goree

This is also what I suspected. Whatever the reason though, it's good to see him coming on strong.

It makes a big difference to have a DT coach who isn't standing around quietly with his hands in his pockets looking like he's got something better to do.

this is fantastic news. Glad Obi has decided to show up and that Uzo-Diribe is back after surgery earlier in the year. Now all we need is Kasa to have a switch flicked in his brain and Hartigan to continue his mean streak that he found towards the end of the season. Excited for the spring game to see what they all look like!!

Any word on whether or not we will do something like last year where captains pick teams? I actually thought that wasn't a half bad idea...

It is absolutely mind-numbing what the last staff got away with.

The combination of a good Strength & conditioning coach and good technique should help keep the injury bug away this year. Like it said in the EB article, we'll see a change in the way the players bodies look this year.

so are we looking at Cunningham rotating in for Obi? What is our starting D-line going to look like?

4-3
West - Pericak - Obi - Uzo-Diribe

3-4
Pericak - Obi - Kasa

What about Eric Richter, I thought he was working with with the DL this spring. Anyone heard anything?

Dude, don't jinx us - from the Camera today:

Embree said defensive lineman Nick Kasa suffered an injured knee ligament that has been keeping him out of practice. ...
