So I'm getting on the plane back to Seattle from San Diego wearing my Buffs shirt when I get a "Go Buffs!" from someone sitting a couple of rows up.
An obvious UW fan pipes up and both of us jump all over him giving him a ration of good natured ****. LOVE IT!

There are 5 or 6 guys in my neighborhood who all went to UW. Going to be an interesting fall.

I'll be at the game this fall sittin next to my husky friend. We've been talking smack since the pac move was announced. It's going to be awesome.

The Pac will be much, much stronger with UW and CU back in the national limelight in the near future:thumbsup: I'm optimistic both schools are on that path again, although it still may take some time.

UW and CU football have some interesting parallels. It really makes me laugh and grin when people who don't know much about UW talk about a UW team under a different coach and use that as an excuse to discredit the current squad. As if CU fans don't know the damage a bad coach or administration can do to a program...

I haven't been this excited for Husky Football in over a decade, and the turnaround since 2008 is truly nothing short of a miracle. They are still probably 1-2 years away from competing for the Pac title and a BCS berth, but they are certainly on the right track.

I think CU fans should also be as excited as they've been in a decade. I know it's early but I've been pretty impressed with the quality of recruits that already have CU offers right now. It's been awhile since our teams have gone head to head with the big boys for the nation's best. So far Embree is doing and saying all the right things. I'd like to see what he's done after a few years in Boulder.

Seriously, we can't take Washington seriously? They've had a national championship more recently than we have, and that team was undefeated and ****ing awesome. I'd rate it right up there with 2001 Miami and 1995 nebraska teams (I know, I know...I feel dirty. **** nebraska) as some of the greatest college teams ever.

I grew up in Pac 10 country, and when I was a kid Washington was the class of that conference. Oregon (just 45 minutes up the road from my home) was dog**** back then. Washington has a great traditon, Don James got hosed and that the Huskies are back on track. I look forward to many great games vs. U-Dub in the years to come.

This is the nice thing about being in the Pac. You see, an incident such as this would never have happened in the Big XII because 'braskans travel by bus.

I think this stuff in the Pac is going to be a lot easier to deal with than what we dealt with in the Big 12. We're so used to freaking hating every other school in the league, and taking that hate to a whole new level when it came to Nebraska, that I think we're going to put off a bunch of folks in the Pac, who are used to a more civilized form of rivalry. I mean let's face it, we hated pretty much everybody in the Big 12, and they hated us right back.

Agree with most everything you say, especially the last sentence. However, It's irritating that the Pups act like they've been such a monumental force in football in recent memory. Even during our Fairbanks II era, we've had a better losing record than them.

We don't normally brag about losing records.

I tend to agree with you in the context of original Pac 8 members. I'll withold judgement until after CU completes a few seasons.

However, there are some exceptions and some trends emerging when checking out various message boards. There are some Ducks fans who are full of themselves. A few winning seasons and the infusion of Phil Knight's money and fashion design have helped cause Oregon's fan base to talk lots of ****. Football WAS invented after 2000.

The Utah fans are constantly under attack by BYU. Without BYU, there is no soundingboard for Utah pride. Nobody else cares about Beehive State football. As a result, Ute nation will have trouble referencing CU or anyone else in the conference on their unique merits. There will be lots of comparisons to the zoobs, as in "you're acting like a zoobie". Utah's situation with BYU is more severe than CU's relationship with CSU or Nebraska. This is because BYU displays a unique set of fanaticism that is indigenous to their specific situation. And Utah has been in a crap conference that has been devoid of real competition. Like Oregon, Utah fans are drunk with their recent prowess and are feeling their oats. Utah's toxic infatuation with BYU comes off like a reduced alcohol PG version of the Longhorn-Aggie dysfunctional relationship, but without the bonfire or the awesome crassness that is shaggybevo. Utefans resembles Ramnations on steroids. Crappy format and much energy wasted on their petty in-state provential squabbles.

It will be fun to watch Oregon and Utah fans intermingle. Methinks Oregon will earn the title Duck-zoobs and filthy hippy-zoobs and nike-zoobs.

Call it homerism, but I've just got this nagging feeling that Colorado, more than Utah, is going to really upset the conference order and become a fixture near the top.

Let's knock off the UW love I am seeing from Walrus and others. They are a conference rival. Where's the the freaking hate people?

No hate required, in my opinion. I rather enjoy playing teams whose fans I respect. Hate has to be earned, and so far, in our new conference, only USC fans have earned it.
