Starting QB to be announced on Tuesday

JRK1212

Pretty sure that Tyler Hansen isin't related to Embree or EB so at least we know that he won the job based on merit.

It seemed obvious that he earned it by how little he played tonight. Looks like they had made that decision and wanted to make sure he didnt hurt himself.

The competition definitely looked like a lot closer yesterday than it has been spoke about all Spring. Both of the QB's showed great attributes. I'm not worried about a true freshman being forced to play next year. I think Hirschman could be pretty good.

I'm terrified by the prospect of Hirschman having to play this season. He's not ready.

I am not, he looked poised, his throwing mechanics is good, just has to improve his decision making a little bit , but that will come with more reps and game action.

Assuming TH stays healthy, I would hope the playing time Nick will see is 4th quarter during a blow out. I'm more worried about seeing Burnette or Dorman on the field.

While Hirschman looked good last night, Hansen is still pretty far out in head. Name him the starter and get him the proper reps in summer and fall.

this.

Hansen while he is technically in his second year starting has never had a full offseason to prepare to be the starter on opening day. He was always splitting reps with Cody, which when trying to effectively run an offense makes it almost impossible when you are not practicing with the first string 80% of the time. I think we will all see a different TH at Hawaii. He will know the offense, be in complete control of the huddle, and be able to make reads accurately and quickly. This is why the more he played last season the better he looked. Getting him at midseason form from last year for the first game this year will be a huge boost. I think TH will not only be dependable this year, he has shown flashes of being extremely good.

It will help TH, NH, and the entire team to know who is legitimately the starter going into summer activities. TH will be looked at as the team leader he should be without all the drama of having the coaches son hanging over his shoulder (or being placed in front of him.) It will also help Nich because he can focus on what he needs to work on without the pressure of having questions about his place on the team bothering him.

I thought Cody actually handled the situation as well as it could have been handled but the questions about who was the actual starter and who had earned the right to be a starter could not have been anything but a distraction for the team that they didn't need.

it has too be Tyler. I doubt that Embree is going to make his choice based on one scrimmage, but see how the player commands the offense and shows what kind of leader he is. And then he has quite a few practices (most of which were closed to the public) to use to make a decision. So yes, Tyler and Nick played about even last night, but my guess is that Tyler outplayed him all spring.

Way too much ground to be made up for Hirschman to climb over Hansen. I thought he looked okay considering his experience, but calling his performance good is being generous.
