Pac-12 countdown

Brad Bedell

Should have started with No. 80 - could have gone with Jon Embree

Blame it on my indecision on the timing to start a countdown. Husker fans have been counting down since the loss to Texas last season for sure and I didn't want to have a very long countdown. If it wasn't for basketball, I would have started it sooner.

In 1976, the Buffs shared first place in the Big 8 and finished the season #16 in both polls.

In December of that year, the Pac-8 extended invites to Arizona and Arizona State. USC finished #2 in both polls and UCLA was #15 in both polls just ahead of the Buffs.

I wonder who the best player at nebraska to wear number 224 was.

some roided up walk-on kid from Goofbag, Nebraska who by the virtue of Dr. Tom and all that is holy in Bugeater football went from a 165 lb 8 man football halfback to a 300 lb OL in 3 months.

75 - Reuben Vaughn (DT - four-year letter winner; 1975-78)
74 - Bob Sebro (OT/C - three-year letter winner; 1979-81)

72 more days to go!

In 1972, it was Eddie Crowder's last winning season as the Buffs would go 5-6 a year later and the Bill Mallory saga begins in 1974.

Last Big 12 event today, CU vs. Nebraska in tennis:

The last Big 12 event today is a reason to celebrate today and I don't mean by joining 10,000 bozos on the lawn to light up a joint at 4:20 p.m. today.

After that is done, I'm sure we can finally start putting up Pac-12 stuff on the CU facilities. I was bummed that we didn't have a Pac-12 logo on the football field for the spring game like Utah did for theirs.

:bump: Best No. 72 ever ... OT Mark Vander Poel, All-Big Eight 1989 and 1990; honorable mention All-American in 1990. :gobuffs:

71 days to go!

1971 was a good year for the Big 8 as NU, OU, and CU finished 1-2-3 in the rankings at the end of the season.
