Gus Johnson, CBS Part Ways.

Industry sources said Johnson has spoken with Fox Sports about a role in its college football coverage. Fox Sports (which has a 49 percent ownership share in the Big Ten Network) recently upped its inventory of college football as part of the 12-year, $3 billion contract between the Pac-10 (soon to be the Pac-12) and ESPN and Fox. The two networks will carry a combined 44 regular-season football games on ESPN and Fox broadcast or national cable networks, along with 68 men's basketball games. They will alternate televising the Pac-12 football championship game and the men's basketball tournament.

Hope he calls some games. He can make watching paint dry exciting even if it is over the top some times.

March Madness just took a serious hit. But, I'd love it if Johnson called a few CU games in the next few years!

There is only one man ready to be the face of Pac 12 football..

That's right, sweet cakes, I said:

Does anyone else remember when Gus yelled "Holy Toledo!" in a Bronco game? He lost all his street cred when he said that!

Does anyone know what game that was? I can't find it on YouTube.

It totally blows that he won't be doing march madness, but if he's doing the PAC that's great! Send Petros Papadenkis to the big 10 to do games with Dorris Burke and we're set.

My favorite Gus moments

I could watch the end of the UCLA-Gonzaga game over and over. But you also have to love this one:

yep... just about to post this... this is big news hopefully the pac-12 can steal him from fox!!!

I think he meant that he'd like for Gus to be the #1 guy on P12N once it's launched.

Fox didn't take much hoops inventory, so I see the point. Still, current move is good for us.

I'm hoping for Fowler as the P12N anchor.

Still don't have to "steal him." Fox will likely have minority ownership in and help run the PAC-12 Network. This is the case for the B10N and Johnson will be doing games for them this year. Fowler would be great but highly unlikely he leaves his cushy ESPN job.

Good point. Be interesting to see how that shakes out, though. Scott was saying 100% ownership of the P12N by the conference, but it's early in negotiations and that could be posturing just to show he's prepared to go that direction.

Last year, there was talk that one of the bigwig execs at ESPN was pushing to replace Fowler and Corso with Rece Davis and Lou Holtz. I don't know what the politics are, but you never know.

I don't really know how to react to this. On the one hand, I'd never ever ever want to watch College Gameday again. On the other, I could comfortably sleep in til 10 and know that I wouldn't be missing a goddamn thing.

id sell my soul to get fowler on the pac-12 network... however if that exec fired corso the Oregon duck would rise up and strike the exec down..

Cooooolllldddddddddd Blooded.

And if you look real closely, You can see Gus Johnson standing and pumping his fists at the end of the game

Fowler would be a steal and if ESPN is done with him, they are complete idots. Combine him with Gus and the Pac will have the best on air folks in the game.

And people wonder why I have pretty much given up on ESPN. College Game Day is the ONLY show that's worth a damn on the network, so of course they're going to mess with it. And giving Lou Holtz more camera time? That's just a brilliant idea.

I hope ESPN does this so I can just give up on the network completely.

i wish espn would get rid of desmond howard he brings nothing to the broadcast. i like fowler and herbstreit, corso i can do without also.
what about a pregame show on the pac-12 network with dan patrick as host?.
