And now to Eugene, OR

Obviously he hasn't learned his lesson from previous infractions. Lucky he didn't lose control and kill somebody. My guess is a 1 - 4 game suspension

Let's just say I was very surprised the Ducks were able to get him qualified. Most schools had him written off as a JUCO placement.

It will be interesting to see - with LSU in the opener.

Last month, linebacker Kiko Alonso pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of trespassing and criminal mischief. He received two years probation, 200 hours of community service and alcohol treatment. He was suspended "indefinitely" by Chip Kelly.

We'll see whether "indefinitely" ends when fall practice begins ...

Oregon's ****ed on this one.

The car he was driving was rented by a member of the Oregon faculty/staff and provided to Harris.

Uh.Oh.

Between the questionable Texas Headhunter Recruiting technique (25,000 bucks) and the series of off-season events last year, The Ducks can't really afford to bring a major spotlight on their program. For Christ sake, it's Eugene Oregon. It' the Ducks. How dirty can they be?

I'll bet it's a long, long time before we see that creepy, futuristic, space-duck mascot again.

Yes, Alonso is also in trouble and it's not his first strike either. Both are starters and key players on the defense but Harris is clearly the more important of the two. Kelly was under a lot of heat from the events that happened in the last off season but I think the trip to the MNC game got him a lot of slack locally. So far the media here seems to be laughing this one off. The comments I've heard are more-or-less like zbuff's.

Wasn't Blount suspended for the season . . . until he wasn't?

I don't see anything coming from this. But I imagine that fine is gonna be pretty hefty. I wonder who pays it?

"Hertz matched the license plate number provided by police with the name of a woman who had the car rented at the time of the incident.

University of Oregon on-line directories show that woman as a member of the faculty/staff.

NCAA rule 16.12.2.3c states:

An institutional employee or representative of the institution's athletics interests may not provide a student-athlete with extra benefits or services, including, but not limited to: The use of an automobile.

"So, I rented the car for my own purposes on Friday. Cliff Harris and his licensed friend, who showed me his license, asked to borrow it and paid me the full amount in cash that I paid for the rental," said the woman, who agreed to speak to KEZI, on condition of anonymity.

The woman, who describes herself as a friend of Harris over the past few months, said she was unaware Cliff would be driving..."

The fine is going to be on the order of $1500. The speeding ticket is around $1100 mandatory and the no license is another $400 (and no, I don't know this from personal experience).

Well, I rented it for me. But these kids asked me to borrow it see. At first I was skeptical but then one showed me his ID. I assumed of course he'd be driving, and after I saw the cash (NO I didn't rent it for them!) I decided that this was a good. It happens to me almost every day. I had no idea they were students! Student-athletes! I'm horrified!

Thanks for the coaching UofO NCAA compliance director...

Who just hands a car rental over to the 19 year old????

I can't believe I forgot this but the Ducks open with LSU at Dallas stadium and apparently this is the 3rd speeding/driving without a license charge in the last 18 months for Harris. This is going to get interesting.

Yea it's not quite like last year when they suspended LaMichael James for the opener against New Mexico.

They will probably have to do an investigation and allow him to play until the investigation is complete.

I think a little waterboarding experience will get to the bottom of this.
