Rivals Top 120 Countdown: CU #67

i suspect Utah is coming up fairly soon. i like our chances at home against Cal; Hawaii....dunno. i do expect to see a high-scoring game.

Good to know Cal is only 7 ahead - I guess the head to head last year was not a factor in that ranking. Here's hoping the outcome is different in September and the Buffs are looking at a top 50 this time next year.

I think the writer may have recognized we were severely handicapped by the blowhard roaming the sidelines last year.

Cal was not that good of a team last year but CU was atrocious on the road.

Even if CU is good this year I fail to see us ranking that much higher next year given how many we graduate.

We have an outside chance of a Bowl Game this year. I think we come out and pound Hawaii with a physical running game and then take down CSU. I also really think we have a 50/50 chance against Ohio St. now with all of there changes and players out for that game. We will see. We have an outside chance of starting 3-1 or 4-0 for the season which would really help recruiting.

I've been seeing this point made a lot because of the number of players graduating after this year. Personally I think it will not be as bad as some people think next year because we will have a more favorable schedule. We avoid an OSU type non-con road game next year as well as get 5 conference home games. So we should have 6 home games and 7 games in the state of Colorado next year.

We lose some on the OL, our QB and our starting RB. Definitely questions we have to answer. Our DL and our secondary should be a lot better. We need as many home games as we can next year.

Hopefully we can find some garbage time this year (with us in the lead) to get Hirsch some PT before the start of next year. A strong running game will also do wonders for a green QB too so we definitely need to establish a physical presence this year.

With 13 games and no bye weeks, I think it is fair to assume Hirsch is going to get PT this year. Difficult to make it through a normal schedule in college football with one QB.

while i'm not a huge fan of the guy for any other reason, i like what Pinkel has done giving his back-up a series in the 3rd quarter in real games. or however he does it. i'd like to see Nick H. get some snaps and throws. even if it's just handing off to Speedy, live action is experience you can't replicate in practice.

Exactly. Then get him back on the sideline and ask questions, "what did you see?", "What did the safety do?", etc. Real time teaching.

Are any of the Pac12 venues as hostile as the ones in the Big 12? No Aggy, UT, OU or bugeaters looks like winning on the road in the big games will be easier.

I completely agree with both of you. I also think that the stress of this season will necessitate it.

does seem like maybe UW and lately Autzen are the only two serious top tier "home field" advantages in the Pac....when put up against Kyle, Horseshoe, Swamp, LSU type hostility.

Forgot about Autzen. That place is nasty, but the stadium was built for sound like the Seahawks' so even though it doesn't seat very many it traps it in well. UDub also has a good rep, but with them being down I haven't heard much lately. USC can fill up their stadium, but only for big, national games and even then I've heard the crowd is "meh."

The Coliseum is a pretty cool venue, but the one time I went there the crowd noise was basically non existent. And its not like they were up 4 Touchdowns or something, USC was trailing well into the third quarter of the game. I've heard louder roars at Invesco for the RMS.
