Georgia Tech now?

The only way the NCAA is ever going to control all of the cheating is to start penalizing the AD's and down. Something like tOSU, maybe 10 years out of the game for the AD, Tressell, and all assistant coachs and staff. That is compeletly out of the league. For minor offenses maybe only one year. It will do 2 things. 1 - make assistants and others self report for fear of losing their jobs, 2 put the responsibility back where it belongs, on the coaches.

I think financial penalties are a better incentive.

Make Georgia Tech pay back all the money they received from the 2009 ACC Conf. championship game and all the money they received from the 2010 Orange Bowl.

:yeahthat:

Nobody cares about the season record after the fact and if victories are vacated, awards returned. Start hitting the cheating schools with huge fines.

Make Tech give back 3x the amount they received for the championship and bowl game.

I also think the loss of scholarships needs to be much more severe.

Josh McDaniels was the Dan Hawkins of the NFL.

I'm going to riff on this post.

The NCAA should have the power to assign Dan Hawkins as the head coach of these dirty programs.

Doing things the right way since 2005!

Seems like a win/win solution to me.

how about we just lose the pretense and go straight to pay-to-play?

set some rules. regulate it. guarantee each player healthcare and the chance to come back and complete their degrees for free when their sports eligibility expires.

it would solve a lot of problems.

Also, legalize weed.

it would. It would also dramatically reduce the size of the teams who could play that particular sport (which might not be a bad thing, either).

We already have multiple NCAA divisions. This would just create another division.

From what I've read, this violation was over $300 worth of clothes. The cover up was the trigger. Emmert has a lot of eyes on him and it seems he is getting ruthless. The OSU sanctions should be interesting.

Here's the best part. The compliance director at Georgia Tech when this was going on and during the coverup left GT in April for... wait for it... wait for it... wait for it...

Auburn!

You can't make this **** up.

Within the investigation, the NCAA noted the combative and confrontational attitude of general counsel, Randy Nordin. He retired in December. Paul Parker, formerly the assistant athletics director at compliance, left in April to take a job with Auburn.

Just make them vacate the 1990 season. Won't give CU the UPI poll, but the poll itself will not exist in a manner of speaking. DOWN WITH THE SPLIT!Will also give Tom Osborne the death penalty for voting for an ineligible team.

Actually, this a brilliant idea. The NCAA should adopt an Olympic-style compensation model for its athletes. If an athlete is big time and earns a ton of dough with a national ad campaign, local car dealers, or whomever, let him or her do so. If they're obscure and no one knows them, the program pays their way and nothing else (same as the status quo). In the end, the school doesn't spend any additional money and kids who are big time can cash in on their names.

Programs who want to win will always cheat. The best talent on the sidelines and on the field in men's football is in the SEC. I wouldn't say that the programs in the SEC are "clean". Yet, they keep on putting more players in the NFL than ever.

It was the illegal clothes, playing him knowing about it, and the cover up.

Recruiting a 5* compliance director is as good as recruiting a 5* QB. Auburn gets that.

You should see his film. Oh wait, you can't, 'cause good compliance directors destroy the film.
