What's your opinion on the key jingling on key plays?

at first I thought it was unique but that sentiment wore off quickly and since it makes no real noise I find it non-productive

Clapping is louder. Scream your face off and make as much noise with your arms, legs, whatever. Keys make no productive noise. It is stupid. I'm going to start stealing keys from people who do this stupid ****.

People make noise while jingling keys from my observations.
Some do, but I would say most see the jingling of keys as enough "noise" more often than not. Obviously there are some plays where the whole student section is going nuts and getting loud regardless of whether or not they are jingling keys.

Does it originate from KeyBank's sponsorship of the Buffs - or did they come in after the fact and latch onto it??

Either way, it is kind of stupid... On the other hand, it does generate a bit of extra noise (but not as obnoxious as a cowbell) and some people who are otherwise not inclined to stand and yell on 3rd down might be able to contribute to the home field advantage ever-so-slightly with their keys. I could live without the keys though.

Don't want to hijack your thread, but two other things that annoy me at the games:

1.) The student section has gone to copying the cheerleaders little "roll up" hand circular gesture every single time the fight song is played (Roll up that mighty score.) That drives me crazy for some reason.
2.) Storming the field once a year for the sake of doing it HAS GOT TO STOP. It's so bush league.

Wait...what?

It's gawddamn ****ing tradition you younger ****s started by your elders (and mine) like Sacky you OBVIOUSLY DON"T UNDERSTAND. Respect them dumbass...

This is NOT just a 35 year old guys thing - it's more than that. In case you're too stupid to remember history, key jingling was a part of our NC run!

What a ****ing stoopid question 'tini! ****ing milennials!:noob::ban:

Sit down, STFU, jingle the keys and make noise too!

KEEP THE KEYS! That is all....

It worked better when I was younger and had more keys in my pocket. Now I have a car key and that is it.

CU is hardly the only school that does this. Not particularly a big fan as it simply doesn't make much noise, but it's not a big deal, not like they're thundersticks or anything absurd. And at least it shows students are following the game..

Key plays when we have the ball yes, but not when we are playing D. That is the time to lose your freaking mind!

Key jingling, foam fingers and 50 yr olds wearing jerseys. Not cool

Piss bombs, pushing opposing fans grannies down the stairs priceless.

But if we're much, much older (I'm talkin' Eddie Crowder older - no MNC but some pretty damn good teams) it's okay to just go ahead and think it's dumb, right? Football is a man's game, not a "key jingler's."

'Tini. When I stare at your avatar, and imagine myself cupping my hands underneath her breasts, at the base of her bra and then think about using my hands to jiggle her breasts, I can actually see them move in your avatar. For real. It's weird.

I thought it was fun as a kid. Good way to get kids involved imo.

I think it's still fun, and I like to refer to them as "puppies" not kids. Oh wait...my mistake--you were talking about the thing with the keys.

The reason the use of the keys is good is that if it is really a key play you can get the crowd noise started earlier by yelling "key play!" and bringing out the keys. That way the noise starts while the chump opponent is still in the huddle and long before they get lined up and start calling their signals -- which is about the time the noise really kicks in on other plays.

It's science.

I like it for actual key plays, but it is way over used. A note to the student section: not every 3rd down is a key-****ing-play.

Didn't it start out as key-jangling during kickoffs only? Regardless, it is a bit of tradition, I've seen other schools do it but no one before CU (kind of like how the hockey-Rockies were the first pro team to play Rock N' Roll Part 2). It also gives the girls something to do during the game besides texting.

This is absolutely the trooth. Back ina day, we'd pull out the keys for maybe 5-6 plays all game long.

Of course, back then, you needed an actual KEY to get into the dorms. They issued two keys - one a building key and another room key. They were big ass keys, too. They made a lot of noise. Now it's a pass card, correct? What are you supposed to do with a freaking pass card? Wave it around?

The pass cards are perfect. When the girl in front of you bends over you swipe your card. The subsequent noise from her screaming, slapping you, your friends falling over laughing and the ultimate brawl with her boyfriend and his pals will make far more noise than keys.
