Academics -- I wouldn't bring this up at meetings, Nebraska. Until you joined, the Big Ten was the only Division I conference to have all its members in the prestigious Association of American Universities, which selects only the finest research and academic institutions in America. Sad how some people don't see the value in your night crawler research. Ah, well, when's the last time a bunch of lab geeks put 85,000 fannies in a stadium, am I right? Dress code -- Now that Jim Tressel and The Vest are gone from Ohio State, there is no dress code. Your lunatic screamer of a head coach, Bo Pelini -- the man who could be an entire season of "What Not to Wear" -- is going to fit in nicely. Your fans aren't exactly ripped from the Armani catalog, either. Oy, that Sea of Red some of you wear: red socks, red overalls, red cowboy hats. Goes nice with your necks, though.

"You know what might impress them, though? Your bowl record. You're 24-23 all time. You better knock that crap off.

In the Big Ten, that's just showing off."

lol

Q: Why do Penn State players wear black shoes?
A: Reportedly, coach Joe Paterno believes it makes his players look slower, which is not true. Bowl games do.

Night crawler research and Nubs wearing red stuff that matches their necks. This is the type of low brow humor only they can appreciate. Good article!

**** Rick Reilly. A little Husker hatred is not going to clear him for past crimes. Or the fact that he is a washed up hack.

I'm totally conflicted on pRick Reilly. Not only did he go to CU, but he's also a BHS alumnus.

I love that he's taking shots at the nubs, but he's still a dick.

So, is it possible for Dick Reilly to ever regain the good graces of CU fans? If so, what would it take?

A public retraction of his comments regarding a certain female kicker and her allegations against the university. If the guy came out and said "I was conned. I wrote some things about the university based on information from a questionable source and I apologize", then he'd be back in my good graces. He'd still be a dick, but he'd at least be less of a pariah in my eyes.

I think his ego would not allow him to do that.

The problem is that he knows he got conned. He knows it. It's pretty much accepted at this point that it was all a put-on. He was nothing more than a tool for Hnida to use to try to blackmail the university. I think he realizes that, and has been trying to write some more positive stories about CU (or at least negative ones about Nebraska) to make up for it. I suppose there could also be some legal issues involved. He doesn't want the Hnida's dragging him into court for defamation.

I used to like Reilly's columns in Sports Illustrated, and I was really disappointed when he wrote the column that he did. However, any time I read Reilly's columns now, I think he is terrible. He tries to wrote humor columns that are absolutely painful to read, and then he will throw out the occasional piece that is supposed to pull your heartstrings, and it is just boring, boring, boring. I think that sports journalism has passed Rick Reilly by, and he is just floundering to justify his spot on the ESPN homepage.

reilly can suck it.

i never liked the guy. still don't.

parting shots at the red polyester horde AFTER CU and KNU are no longer in the same conference wins him no love from me. no CU cred.

i'd rather buy I.M. Hipp (old timers?) or various other NU acolytes a beer. not a good beer, but a beer. plus, it's always nice to see a correctional facility to keep one's life in line. perspective.

**I.M. Hipp is not in jail AFAIK...but, has a cool name and it's a cheap shot at NU. live with it. heh.

Cousin Mick gives you I.M. Hipp. DBT, meet your maker. get a fro, a white tie, and a "where are the white women at" toothy grin and maybe you are back? look at that shirt. did you guys share a joint and maybe rock some Bootsy Collins solo stuff? Mothership Connection?
