Especially with all the new posters we get this time of the year. If you didn't go to/graduate from(the obvious) CU why/what made you a CU fan?

went to my first college football game at folsom w/ ralphie running and was hooked...fresno st loss 2001 **** craig ochs...

I grew up in Sioux City, Iowa and hated the Huskers. I was always a Hawkeyes fan until Chris Brown got saucy all over Nebraska in 01. That made me want to go to CU and I am currently attending CU.

My dad played for CU in the late 60's. I have had season tickets with him since I was 2. My entire basement is a CU shrine, and my friends are often worried about my obsession with CU.

Whats interesting though is my grandpa played for Nebraska and then moved to Colorado and attended CU. So I could have easily been a cornhusker.:wow:

Here is a little bit of a sample of my CU man cave.

I'm a 3rd generation Buff. Apparently back in the day CU recruited normal students kind of like they now recruit athletes. My grandmother was paid a visit by Byron White to attend CU. It was my father who was a huge Colorado fan who really turned me on. Started bringing me to games as a kid during the 89' season. Of course that gave me a little bit of an unrealistic expectation of what Colorado games are like.

Local kid, grew up a fan of the Black-n-Gold. I've visited and lived in a lot of different places, but I'm not like some of those visitors and transplants -- my loyalty never changed (and never will).

cut my teeth on the Buffs as a wee pup while my dad was at CU law. pops took me to football and hoops games. I came back to Boulder for grad school, making an easy decision to choose CU over USC and Indiana. even though i went to CC for undergrad, i was always a Buff.

Was watching some games in '88 when I was about 8 or so liked what I saw and just kept watching. My father is a Husker fan so thankfully the TV games were more influential then him

So you have a thing for Hawk's wife? I see the item with Misty's name on it in there.

Also you have to have the 70 inch plus flat screen in the middle of all this to watch games and highlights when you aren't actually attending a game.

My family moved to Colorado from Illinois in the late 90s and CU wasn't really on my radar screen until 2001. On November 23, 2001, I was a freshman in high school and I had a band concert I had to go to that evening but I'll be damned if I wasn't almost late because I got sucked into watching Chris Brown go crazy against Nebraska. From then on, the seed was planted. I arrived at CU as a freshman in the Fall of 2005 as a Molecular Biology major and a tuba player in the Golden Buffalo Marching Band. My time in the band (both marching and basketball) was a huge part in nurturing the love of my alma mater that I feel today. I graduated in 2009 and I work for the university now in a lab and even though working next door to Folsom makes every day of the offseason that much more painful, I wouldn't change a thing.

4th generation Buff (if you count medical school for one of those as my great grandfather did not attend as an undergrad). Is there another school to attend? Go Buffs!

I moved to Colorado in 1976. Growing up in Texas, I was a big football fan. I gravitated to being a Colorado fan, probably because I lived here and they were easy to follow. But then, in 1984, I enrolled in CU-Denver and got my degree in 1989. Two of my three kids have graduated from CU-Boulder and my third is a year away. My fandom really took off when Mac took over.

Born in Boulder, 4th generation Boulderite. My grandpa is a CU grad along with an uncle and aunt. (My dad played basketball at Denver, so he's not a CU alum, just a lifelong fan also). Our family business sponsored Ralphie for a number of years, we've had season tickets for 30+ years as a big family group. Although I went to undergrad in San Diego, my Toreros are a FCS non scholarship football team, so there is no conflicting interests there.

In 1976 Brian Cabral was the key note speaker at my little league banquet. He signed autographs, handed out all of our team awards and brought everyone a CU t-shirt. I was hooked.

I am born and raised in CO (born in 76). My family has strong ties to Wyoming & North Dakota, and hating BYU, Notre Dame, and the Huskers. My uncle will go off if any husker fan tells him how great they are (he has had several run ins with the self proclaimed best fans and loves to tell of their hypocrisy). Growing up in what is now Centennial, most of the residents were transplants. My friends would cheer for their parent’s alma mater. I did cheer a little for Wyo (not much to cheer for that is football related in ND), but as I was in Colorado I picked the Buff’s as my team. So through thick and thin from about 1984 I have cheered for the Buffs.

I attended undergrad at SMU because it was the cheapest way for me to go to college (for some reason they gave me a lot of money to attend). While at SMU in the mid/late 90’s I continued to cheer for the Buffs, and would occasionally pull out my CU gear on Saturday’s.

I follow SMU football, but my time and money goes to the Buffs.

I did get my MBA from CU in 2006.

Went on a school visiting trip to see CC and AFA as a junior in HS. Visited CU as well, and was convinced after one visit. My first awareness of an association with CU football came on Christmas of my senior year in HS, when CU won the Aloha bowl. My Freshman year was 1994, which as my introductory season of CU football made it no surprise that I was hooked for life. Memories from that season - walking from the hill to the stadium with a mass of students singing the fight song and chanting the entire way, Wisconsin night game where the cheese slices flew through the air, Miracle in Michigan - duh, never getting tired of watching the option work again and again, rolling against ND in the bowl game, and a different type of beverage in the student section.

Love sports, especially college sports. I come from a Big 8 family, and everyone in the immediate and extended family are fans of other programs (especially KSU, KU, MU and NU). As a kid, I wanted to be different and have a rooting interest. I picked CU, probably because of uniforms and Ralphie since I was a little kid. Then, as I was hitting my teenage years Mac was building it up and it all came together. As soon as I had some options as an adult, I chose to move to Boulder and I've been here for over a decade. Now, one of the biggest things for me with supporting CU is that it's a big part of the community that I love and the flagship university of the state I love.

Colorado native born in 1960. Grew up w/ the Anderson brothers and then the '71 team that finished #3. Suffered through the Fairbanks disaster and early Mac years and was rewarded w/ the greatest period in CU football history. I loved going to games in Boulder and have travelled to a few away games (including 9/24/94). Living in Vegas for six years now and plan to attend a few Pac12 roadies. Heading to Hawaii in a few weeks to help usher in the next great generation of CU football. Gawd I hope so, anyway.

The Sal story bought me on board in 1989 when I was 15 years old.(**** you ND) I have always loved football, college and pro. I didn't have a team in college though. I started watching CU that year and got hooked on the uniforms and the style of play. I loved the fact that the other team knew what was about to happen and could do nothing to stop it. I have been to Boulder and the surrounding area a number of times. I am a truck driver and wish to make it out there for a game someday. I have loved CU for the last 22 years and will until the day I die.

I am the love child of Eddie Crowder and Ralphie I.

My dad wrestled here in the late '70's until the program came to an end. My whole family are true Buff fans. We always go to games with my brother-in-law and his dad who was a linemen back in the day.
