The Muss explained

So I was curious what this whole muss thing was and found this.

http://www.alumni.utah.edu/muss/membership/

the muss comes from a line in the fight song.

What does The MUSS stand for? – The MUSS is a word taken from the school's fight song (“... no other gang of college men dare meet us in the muss.”) The official definition of muss is a state of disorder, confusion or chaos. The MUSS has also been termed the “Mighty Utah Student Section.”

BTW the fight song is amusing check it out on the web page. Really corny sounding. deffinately not as cool as Fight CU.

Last thing of note
Finally, no “mosh-pitting” after a Utah score.

This makes me think of those old Adam Sandler bits about the goat. Have a good time mosh pitting!

This defines The Muss. It doesn't even come close to explaining it, or why it's part of their fight song...

so muss is kinda like mess. cryptic high-brainpower type stuff, there.

when they get a Thunder Chute, let them talk.

So it's pronounced like "Puss" right? Like "the Utes are giant gaping pussies" Or "that puss smells bad" Am I using this correctly?

If she were a fusker granny, doing the right thing would involve pushing her wheelchair down a flight of stairs.

Although she's got a crimson cap, she's clearly not a husker. Plus she modified the school lyrics to include a reference to drinking lager and smoking a big cigar. She's a pretty cool old lady.

And from this video, the meaning of "muss" becomes clear. It is a cross between muff and dust. The muss is the snatch of a very old woman. This explains perfectly the line in the Utah song why other college men don't want to go there. I know I don't want to be anywhere near the inside of a Utah Muss.

While references to smoking stogies and drinking beer is awesome, it doesn't compensate for the disturbing nature of watching a granny with an oxygen tube proudly declaring that she's some kind of man. Ki-yi.
