A&M not invited to a seat at the table

Looks like A&M isn't going anywhere right now...

The Southeastern Conference is not extending an invitation to Texas A&M to become its 13th member, but isn't ruling out adding the Aggies in the future.

University of Florida president Dr. Bernie Machen said the conference's presidents and chancellors met on Sunday and "reaffirmed our satisfaction with the present 12 institutional alignment."

a lot of people working public relations at ATM will have an interesting few months of work to try and beat back this national jilting.

This may just be politics so SEC is not seen as the cause of Big 12 collapse. If TAMU decides tomorrow to bolt, doubt SEC would say no to them. Which they've said in the press recently.

Don't think ESPN has anything to say. SEC contract is with CBS sports, not ABC/ESPN.

Nobody knows exactly what is happening in the backrooms but I seriously doubt that the SEC doesn't want aTm. Much more likely they delayed taking action until they could find a #14 team that was acceptable to them.

gottlieb saying on twitter that UGA, USC and UF blocked expansion talks. aggy ain't going anywhere but Big 12 now.

I think the issue was making sure there was a pair to bring in. And the best 14th options are back east in states in-state SEC members would block. That has to be figured out before a Clemson or GT or FSU goes.

Given the bad calls last year for CU and the Nubs in Big 12 games, aTm is gonna be hosed this year if they stay. The longest yard.

Living through the calls from last yr was brutal but if aggy does'nt get into the SEC, Those calls would be nothing compared to what there going to have to endure.

DMN fella tweeted that if 10th member found to replace A&M, they will leave the Big 12 TV contracts alone and not subject SEC to lawsuit. All the necessary arrangements for Houston to use the NFL and NBA facilities seems to be in place. Just getting all legal ducks in row.

So perfect. Please let this happen.

Yeah, it's a great setup for the Big 12, honestly. Houston will draw massive crowds for UT, OU and OSU and will probably do well for Tech and Baylor games as well. The UH ticket department will be the biggest winner in this deal.

 at the Baylor comment. Baylor doesn't do well for Baylor games. What makes you think Houston would do better?

Still, I'm thinking about how this sets up down the road. This is the best possible scenario for CU. Dilute the talent pool in Texas a little more. Give the kids there more reasons to look outside their conference. Where might they look?

Aggie is getting bitch slapped like Rick James' mistress...the chubby one missing a tooth, not the hot one.

All this talk about avoiding a lawsuit. I don't remember this being an issue when CU left the Big 12 for the Pac. Why is it an issue now? I'm pretty certain nobody at the Pac 10 came out and said "We've decided that 10 is a good number for us".

If you read the Staples article, it has to do with putting out an invite before a school has applied to join.
