8/17 practice report

Pugh to WR could be a stroke of genius. Elite straight line speed with decent size. Didn't have the hips for corner or the physicality for safety. If we can develop his hands, this could be the perfect home for him. Whether it works or not, I love the creativity of giving a guy a shot where his best opportunity lies instead of accepting a wasted scholarship.

Shows hands.
He asked to move as he was buried at DB.
Vincent and Speedy at PR. PRich watching.

Good for him, if true. But still scary. If he earns the starting position, can he hold up physically for 14 games?

Quick Summary of what I was able to see today not already posted:

A lot of work on the 2 min drill.
Speedy sat it out, with Tony Jones going with the 1's.
Cefalo with the 1's as well in place of Richardson.
Spruce with some nice catches - knows how to adjust and find the ball.
QB protection breakdowns still an issue.
Not going live today (shells and shorts) so hard to tell what is a sack.

Special teams - I could not see who was punting and when. Some good some bad.
Kick Return had Vincent (first time I've seen him) with Tony Jones, Speedy, Block, Orms and Jaffee.
Kickers seem interchangeable on kickoffs.
Oliver is our FG guy. He's consistent.
Castor tried a long one near the end twice (someone moved on first). Missed short and right on first and shanked second.
Gorman seems to be competing to be the holder, also playing on Kickoff Return just in front of returners.
Still a lot of sloppiness on offense imo.
We have a pass rush.

Schrock running with 2's. Burnette got a chance in the 2 minute drill, but forgot about the play clock. Took a penalty, got screamed at and Embo said get me another QB. Schrock jumped in.

A true live scrimmage would tell us more.
A real game would truly tell us way more.

you do realize I was sneaking back to the parking lot and firing these updates off from my iphone just so I could post something before that SlidernCider guy?

Just giving you ish. I really do appreciate everyone that even drops a hint of insight on here, hence the rep.

I thought practices were closed. guess I was wrong. Thanks for the reports

Surprised to hear that Henderson is pushing for a starting CB, Sherad would have been my pick among the freshmen coming in. Pleasant surprise, good news for Colorado. Because i also expect Sherad to come back strong from his injury and be major factor next year.

Playing Harrington for 6 friggin ST plays last year (and not redshirting him) was a huge mistake.
