Exactly. Kicked off the team, expelled from the university and given an appropriate prison sentence. If the facts in this case support the claim that these specific players who were out were involved in the attack.

"Jefferson sucks....at least he won't play now." Gotta luv those lsu fans,

It looks like there may have been a Fall-Camp-Testosterone-Driven-Mob-Beating down in Baton Rouge. If this went down like I suspect it did, I hope these douches get their time in the slammer. **** them.

Good for the marine for trying to intervene and help a guy. Too bad he got his head stomped in for his effort...

What? You don't think running them is a sufficient penalty? After all, they were just representing....

Well, mostly I think it should be a legal issue, but maybe you're right--maybe it should be left up to Coach Miles. Sometimes the in house punishment is harder.

What are the chances that the investigation doesn't conclude until after the Oregon game?

Just ask Ohio St.

Unusual for me, but I was being sarcastic. I was thinking at first of trying to find a way to get running into the penal code...

Well, wait a minute here. I was 100% sure you were being sarcastic earlier, as was I in my response. But now, you're using the sarcasm font saying that you were being sarcastic earlier, which means you weren't being sarcastic at all. You really do seem to believe that running is a legitimate punishment for this.

Sorry, your sarcastic logic seems so reasonable - stranger than fiction - so I bought it hook, line, and sinker. BTW, how's that fishing trip going?

Now they are putting off a police interview and have hired and attorney. Maybe with the extra time they can all get their story straight and find someone who can make the whole thing go away.

totally correct. no trained cops could justify not immediately interviewing named suspects, in what looks like a felony assault (In Colo and most state, a foot w/ shoe is a deadly weapon). Becomes more ridiculous, if they've been out drinking'/partying and are likely to shoot off their mouths. And, you're right, you always seperate them a.s.a.p. These guys are kissing ass for lsu.

most people in LA probably support this.

You bet.
Circle the wagons, their little gods have run amok again. I love college sports but this story line sure gets tedious after a while. Of course the town I live in (pop. 4,500) is even now putting the finishing touches on a new field house for high school athletics to the tune of $6,000,000.00. Why wouldn't these kids feel like they are untouchable!?

Supporting a bunch of punks over a Marine because they happen to be on the football team would be on the pathetic side.

Doubt they side with the players considering a Marine was involved. Not many things take precedent in the south over football but patriotism is one of them.

I find it interesting that Miles considers a group of large men dragging a single man from a vehicle and pounding the **** out of him a "fight."
Wonder if his perspective would change if his kid had been on the receiving end of the beating.

Can we get a slow, building clap in the richest tradition of Lucas and other 80s teen movies in support of what is probably 'tini's finest post to date.

Our boy is all growns up!

I'm an LSU fan, and I have never liked Jefferson. If you think Miles will roll over and play Tom Osborne, you are wrong. Remember he kicked Ryan Perrilloux off the team just before the start of the season. He was the #1 rated Rivals recruit at quarterback, and was clearly going to be the starting QB. It cost Miles some big games, and set the team back at QB for years. If Jefferson is charged with a felony - he's gone, as well as anybody else charged with a felony. If you think Miles will sweep it under the rug, you don't know anything about him.

Your love/hate relationship with Les Miles intersts me.

A few years ago we got:

"You think that the LSU fan base will stand by Les Miles while he sells out his quarterback you're wrong! He's a dishonest mad. He'll be gone before next season."

And now this?

Every LSU fan has had a love , hate relationship with Miles, but he isn't afraid of kicking anyone off his team, at anytime. Don't confuse LSU fans with Miami fans, if Jefferson and the 3 other players are charged - they are gone. I lived in Colorado Springs for 5 years, and there was a debreifing, half way house or whatever you want to call it for special forces soldiers who were having problems. The city didn't want any part of it as these guys were going to bars and picking fights.
There's always 2 sides to a story, but if the players are charged - they will never play another down for LSU.

Personally, I hope Jefferson - if charged - is expelled from the university, along with any other players charged. Prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Put in prison with a cell mate bigger than him who will put lipstick on him and make Jefferson his wife.

From a lifetime TIGER fan.
