Starting punter is

Prepare to hear this.....

Ringing throughout Folsom Field this season

Because Darragh O'Neill is the mother****ing starting punter for YOUR COLORADO BUFFALOES!

Called into Embo's office this morning and was awarded the job based on his stats from all of fall camp!

Congrats to Darraigh.

I didn't know he was a big Ricky Martin fan. Thanks for the inside info.

Really ****ing slow news day when the naming of a starting ****ing punter causes two threads to be created.

@Buffnick, pls merge it to Allbuffs depth chat prediction thread, a punter doesn't deserve its own thread.

Amazing, but not surprising that BOTH SCHOLARSHIP KICKERS signed in Hawk's last year are no longer starting... Wow, nice one hawk.

Now, the curious thing to see will be which one, if any, transfers.

More amazing is O'neil went from not playing High School football and not ever punting as of this past spring to essentially winning the job (although I think it was a tie). The tie goes to a guy who's been punting for 6 months over Hawk's guy, who has been on scholarship here for 2 full years.

Serious question, which will be more difficult this season at home games:

1. Keeping SnowBuff from falling over after too many Sapphire/Tonics?
2. Keeping Rugged from punching out kids singing soccer songs in Folsom?

What happens if I'm singing the soccer song?

Neither will transfer - we're not talking about blue chip QBs here. They are scholarship kickers that lost their jobs to freshmen...not a lot of demand for that. Most kickers should be happy to have a scholarship, so these guys should enjoy Boulder, get a great education, have fun. And be ready if needed.

Getting a free ride to CU as a backup punter is a pretty cush gig, so enjoy it.

Grossnickle is a perfect example of why Hawk had to go. He is talented enough to be a D1 kicker and started out well. Hawk screwed with his head so much that now he doesn't know if he is coming or going.

With a season without the pressure of being Hawk's starting punter he may get his head back on straight and come back next year to compete again for the job.

If he wants to be at a D1 school I highly doubt that anyone else is going to give him a scholly. If he wants to be the starter elsewhere he might get a scholly from a lower division school.

I would expect he will stay at CU.

A lot of the same could be said for Castor.

No ties, Darragh had better distance and hang collectively throughout fall camp.

I like the guy, but it was a virtual tie.

In the 4 practices I attended, it was an essential tie. Embree said it himself that it was a virtual tie. Some of you guys are going to have to learn to be a little less Homers when talking about one of your friends or family here.

I guess I do not understand the assumption of Grossnickle being ruined by Hawkins. Maybe he just is not good enough?

Pretty simple assumption iyam. Dan Hawkins burned (insert reference about Colorado Football here) to the ground. I'm sure there are some players and aspects that this doesn't apply to, but it is a safe assumption to make.
