My Season Predicition...

Since we are close to starting the season I thought I would give my analysis and prediction for the upcoming season.

First let me say this staff is way far ahead of the previous staff in terms of football acumen. Several of these guys have coached in the pros and know what it takes commitment wise to compete at the highest level. How much of that they will get across to the players remains to be seen. There is going to be a lot of passion for the game on the CU sidelines this year and that passion will be combined with tons of football knowledge. I think the areas of biggest improvement will be Offensive line, defensive coordinator, special team, and QB coach.

@Hawaii - two months ago I would not have liked CU's chances on the road in this game but Embree is really emphasizing stopping the road losing streak. I think the Rainbow Warriors are going to run into a buzz saw. CU is not going to lose this game. This is a W.

CAL - the game last year was not representative of either team. Cal was not that good and CU was not that bad. This will be totally different this year. CAL is replacing a lot of pieces especially at QB, CU will notch another win. W.

CSU @ whatever it is called now. This could be a trap game, CSU is going to be one of the most improved teams in the nation but they still have a long way to go. The Rams have little idea of how devoid of talent St. Sonny left the team and Fairchild has been running around the country trying to get players into the program. Thomas will be much better at the QB spot. But the Rams still do not have the same talent level as CU. This will be another win.

@ OSU - Regardless of the loss of Tressel and Pryor, OSU is loaded and playing on the road in Columbus against a very talented team does not bode well for the Buffs. I hope I am wrong but this looks like an L.

WSU - Supposedly another improved team. But I do not think they are there yet. This will be a Buff Win.

@ Stanford - CU will be a big underdog in this game and unfortunately it will probably play out as predicted. This one is most likely another L.

@ Washington - Color me unimpressed by the Huskies. Their big victory in the Bowl over the Huskers made everyone jump on their bandwagon but they lost their starting QB and I saw them in plenty of other games where they did not look very good. This is one of my toss up games....I think Embree will emphasize winning on the road and the Buffs pull out a victory.

Oregon - The good news is the Buffs catch the Ducks at home...the bad news is the Ducks are loaded and will be in the hunt for the MNC. Unfortunately another L.

@ Arizona State - ASU will be a solid team this year but not a great team. This game is winnable but not likely...in Folsom I would give the Buffs a better chance. Another L.

USC - Like Oregon they come into our house. But like Oregon they have a lot of Talent. Not a believer in Lane Kiffen so CU could pull a big upset but I think they will wear the Buffs down especially with Barkely at QB. L

Arizona - Another team that I think is vastly over rated. Not impressed with the wildcats nor with Mike Stoops. The Buffs will not lose 4 in a row. This will be a nice Buff W.

@UCLA - Talent wise this team has more raw talent then CU but Neuheisel has been unable to mold them into a team and his teams always play soft. UCLA lacks a sold QB. I think CU will be very physical and will win the game going away in the second half. I think this is a W for CU.

@ Utah - I think the Utes will be as beat up as the Buffs at this point in the season. I will be interested to see how they hold up with the PAC 12 schedule. This is another toss up game in my mind. I think the Buffs may come out on the short end in this one. L

7-6 is what it looks like to me with a nice little Bowl trip for the Seniors.

Things that could make the season worse - injuries, team not as invested in winning as we would hope, long schedule with no break tires them out, poor special teams play.

Things that could make the season better - TH have a break out season at QB, the Oline really plays well as a unit, Clemons playing up to his potential, Defense get pressure on the opposing QB.

I am looking forward to this season more than I have in a long time.

7-6 would be ****ing fantastic. And it sure would be nice to not be terrified of a road game being an automatic L.
