Interesting Article on Uniforms at UO

I thought this was a new angle, and one that I hadn't thought of when it comes to the bazillion (roughly) unis that our new conference-mates wear:

I
, for one, love that CU's gone back to the traditional look for the uniforms, but I think we need to ask ourselves if what we think (a bunch of older alums/fans) is the same as what 18 y.o. kids think in terms of fashion taste. However, CU might not have to resort to this kind of "advertisement" for some of the reasons that UO did (lack of winning tradition, etc) and CU also might not have the financial backing to do all the different uni combinations. I would like to see CU get on the "ProCombat" list so that they can keep both the traditional look but also showcase a new look once per year.

Keep what we have now. Alabama, Michigan, Penn State don't have any trouble pulling in kids with the uni's they have. We tried changing things up with those god awful uni's we had under Hawk.

Alabama has 13 national championships to point to.
Michigan has 11 national championships in their pocket.
Penn State only has 2 national championships, but they have a coach who pre-dates the sport of football.
Our tradition is not the same tradition that those schools have, like it or not. I'd prefer that we keep what we have now instead of jumping into this uniform madness. I'd prefer that we find some other way of making our mark rather than be labeled as following the trend that Oregon and Boise St have started just by daring to be shocking.

100% agreed. And Ryno, Alabama wore a ProCombat uniform for a game last year and Michigan is wearing an alternate for the Notre Dame game this year.

No, No, No. When we were 20 the sense of fashion was to wear the Colorado Buffalo uniform. Black jersey with gold pants and gold helmet. A few years earlier they had silver pants and a silver helmet with the black jersey. That would have been fine, too. We didn't need some goofball variations every other week to wear. We put on the Colorado football black jersey and we were proud of it. The uniforms of Coach Crowder's teams and Coach Mac's teams say Colorado football. We didn't need to look like a circus trapeze troupe.
