AllBuffs Boulder watch party for Saturday

We were discussing this in chat last night and I wanted to get an idea on who is in.

First option would be Johnny's Cigar Bar (13th & Canyon - One Boulder Plaza). They've got a smoking lounge (cigars only) with a big plasma screen and a poker table. Seats about 10. Considering it's a Saturday night and they've got a live music act on the piano in the front room, this wouldn't accommodate a large group.

Other options to consider:

Dark Horse (Baseline). We'd probably park in the front room near the fireplace and could easily handle 20+ people.

Harpo's (Arapahoe). I haven't been there, so someone else should comment. Web site says: over 30 tv's, 3 pool tables, rooftop dining with one of the best views in Boulder, state of the art satellite system featuring all major sports packages, game room, NTN Trivia, and Texas Hold em' every night.

Lazy Dog (Pearl). This is where the main watch party will be in Boulder. We might be able to commandeer enough space for a large group if we take over the basement.

28th Street Tavern (Bluff). I haven't been there and it's new. Web site says: 7 Widescreen TVs - 5 Pool Tables - Ping Pong - Darts - Foosball - Free Wi-Fi - Live Music.

A fallback spot could always be the Buffalo Wild Wings in Superior, too.

One thing that might be a consideration is whether you are under 21. I know that Dark Horse will let under-21 adults in with a different hand stamp. I don't know about the others.

Please post your thoughts and whether you think you can make it. Game's at 8:15pm (mountain time) on ESPN2.

Johnny's is awesome, but it is a tight fit even without a game on. I would pass on that.

I would also think avoiding Pearl St. this weekend would be a good idea, so no Lazy Dog.

Dark Horse would be fun. Harpos is a great venue as well. Probably similar sized to Lazy Dog. Don't know anything about 28th Street Tavern. Buffalo Wild Wings isn't bad, except usually their prices are crappy.

i'd give Dark Horse the edge on bar food/burgers vs. Harpo's, but Harpo's would work. decent selection of taps, last time i was there (6 months ago maybe). it's a big, open space that in previous incarnations was both a Big Boy restaurant and a Hooters. they have a rooftop patio, too. don't know if there are TV's up there.

If I wasn't already hosting 20+ band kids I'd bust down the door at Johnny's. You guys should join us for a victory cigar there sometime.

i totally forgot about this, but i met the owner of sug's one night and he gave my friends and i a tour of the restaurant before it opened. they have a large back area, where the bside lounge used to have concerts, with a ****ing enormous, brand new flat screen tv and group style seating. he mentioned possibly having watch parties back there. i would give the restaurant a call and see if you can talk to him, super nice guy. that would be ideal for you guys me thinks.

Lazy Dog is hosting the Herd watch party. Probably going to be packed.

Im so torn. I want to watch the game with a ton of fellow Buffs and get rowdy, but I also want to be able to hear the game, and drink Buff Gold during the game.

Harpo's is good sized and they do have some pool tables and an outdoor seating area. The boys and me were planning on watching the game there... as it is wall to wall TVs and the beer ain't bad.

Are you 21? The Allbuffs watch party probably isn't going to be massive.

Except it is a PITA to drive to Longmont

15 minutes from broomfield on 287, The Red Zone is right on Main Street. Plus I have to work and will get off around 8, so that makes it easier for me and that is all I really care about.

I will go anywhere. I was going to go to the Blake Street Tavern, but it is going to be insane on Saturday night. First game, official party, ralphie will be there, LoDo on a Saturday night.... seems like it will be tough to actually WATCH the game.

Exactly why the red zone will be perfect. Should we make a poll for this?

I'd prefer is Lazy Dog or Harpos, but if everyone wants to go to Longmont, then I will go.

Ultimately, I think Buffnik gets to pick since it is his paarrttyy!

That sounds good to me. I'd like to give Harpo's a try.

should we see if they can set aside an area for 10 - 20 ppl? I will bring the flag!
